It depends... We called them paisas.. people from Antioquia (which includes Medellin) and with Cali, I believe they have the most beautiful girls in Colombia. Paisas say what they think, they're very straightforward with you, and they are really fun. What I'd do is to teese her, to see if she likes u being romantic. A nice dinner or a box of chocolates do the trick, and upon her response to that, u can select ur course of action. In other words, if she likes the detail, be like that, but not all the time. If she doesn't, u'll have to choose a different strategy.

In fact a whole bunch of us either have Colombian girlfriends or wives. Of course others have many Colombian novias. I used to be like that until my future wife grabbed me by the ears and beat me into submission. Ha Ha.

I do have a good suggestion. Find yourself a good local florist in Medellin. I have one in Neiva that keeps an account for me and lets me pay her via money transfer(giros). I can send an incredible arrangement of two dozen roses with all the greenery and a vase for $50.000 COP. There are services that let you send flowers online, but they cost WAY more and who knows how fresh the flowers are. I have yet to meet a woman that doesn't like flowers and I have been all over the world.

Paisa Accent You mention certain words she says, well, that's the typical Paisa accent, which by the way is different than Cali accent.

Another thing you'll notice is how paisas pronounce the letter "s", a little bit like in Spain. They use Vos instead of Tu or Usted.

Of course you can be romantic with her. Actually you can tell her you love the way she speaks and how different it is from the way other spanish speaking people pronounce the language.

Yea I suppose those are good idias but I was kinda looking for phrases.. something Authentic, you know? As far as the whole flowers thing I have the great privilage of having her only about two hours away. We were in college together but I transfered (she's forign exchange)but I wll be going over to spend the who Christmas with her as she has not family but her brother here.
