Time to revisit Barranquilla

Well, its been over a year now and I broke it off with my fiance who lives in Barranquilla. We went through the K1 visa and at the last minute she told me she wasnt ready to leave colombia :( Never mind I hired 2 lawyers, one for her and myself, spent a lot of money for the process. So I gave her one more year to get her affairs in order. I guess next time I wont rehire our lawyer and try to do it for ourselves. A year goes by and when I brought the question of K1 visa, she would just try to change the subject or pretends not to be home when I call. So I broke it off with her and was heart broken. She lived well from me taking care of her. why leave when you have someone to send you money right? Hard lesson learned. So I'm trying my luck again. My lawyer has many clients and friends down there and she will introduce me to a few of them. I will not repeat this mistake again.

Don't be too hard on her Leaving your friends, family, and everything you know is a difficult thing. Better that she decided early instead of a few months after she arrived. If her goal was to milk you she certainly would not have told you any misgivings about going with you...

Jojoy, you need to find yourself a cachaca (Medellin, Bogotá, and Cali) those girls adopt much better and quicker at living outside Colombia than barranquilleras.

I'll get there, when I get there!

observations and comments Opinion comments based upon experience

I believe it is difficult for the average American man to understand fully the family connections that exist for most Colombian women. Despite all the comments you hear about money hungry Colombian women, I believe that for the majority, that family is worth more to them than money.

Also, try not to compare or judge other Colombia women you meet by the old girlfriend.

Your comment of:
“She lived well from me taking care of her. why leave when you have someone to send you money right?”
Makes me believe that maybe you are looking in the wrong country, or maybe you need to re-evaluate your values. Perhaps the lady saw in you more of a love of money than of her, especially if you kept telling her how much you were spending.

And the money lost on lawyers and things is not that much in the overall scheme of things. I know that I have, and I am sure others on this blog site have lost much more in our lifetime in the name of love.

I do not know you and I do not know all the situation, so do not take the comments in a bad manner. They are just observations from and possibilities and years of learned wisdom.

As for me, well, I moved to Colombia realizing the ladies ties to family were stronger than mine.
