Tied for 2nd

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/06/sports/golf/06golf.html

Camilo Villegas has made a big impact on the PGA Tour. When he was tied with Tiger Woods for first place after 2 rounds, it was the lead story Saturday evening on Colombian national television (Caracol TV).

It's like when Juan Pablo Montoya started winning sports car races, he became a big news item in Colombia. Personally, I don't think golf is very interesting to watch on tv.

Camillo I followed him around last Sat. & Sun. at the Chrystler Classic in Tucson and he definately is the "real deal". It was great to see him play in person and also to meet a few other colombians who were also following him. my wife always tolerated my golf playing and watching but now she's pretty stoked to watch if he is playing.

Camillo Lets not forget that besides being Colombian he is a fighting Gator from the University of Florida. Another reason to be proud of him!! Go Gators and viva Colombia!!

That double bogey on the 18th hole on Saturday was crushing but he pretty much played lights out the whole tourney. What a talent!
Here's hoping he can challenge Tiger in the future.

golf I watched and read about golf this weekend for the first time ever, I had always thought it was boring... Now I understand a bit more and I can watch it and find it interesting, reading about it involves too many numbers and it is still a little complicated, but I am happy for Camilo and looking forward to watching him play again...I might just add golf to the list of sports like to watch!

Camillo I watched him and he was excellent and the purse 450,000 dollars, not bad for second place.
I think at first he was not as relaxed, but then he started to mellow out and his game improved greatly.
If he concentrates on his game and not tiger woods, he will beat tiger soon. Tiger is the worlds best golfer at this time, so it is hard to come up against him, he can make a mistake or too, but camillo and persons like him cannot afford mistakes.
So if camillo just concentrate on HIS game and have fun with it, he will soon be world great too.
Excellent game by camillo, and I am not a fan of his, but he is a good golfer and he deserves his props. I would like to see him take Tiger woods place one day as the worlds greatest golfer.

Tom who tied second with him was great too and he could have beat Tiger, but it just wasn't his day either.

Okay, he's doing pretty well with almost a million in winnings, especially if that is for only 2006. But, I bet the upkeep on the cars and staff to tend to them is more than a couple million.

The Driver's Spoils? I think they get 'THE GIRLS'.

Why Not Colombia?..........Stay Tuned, for more.... utterly worthless, self-indulgent gobbets of nonsense.

It's a shame Montoya went to Nascar, Formula 1 is the major leagues of racing... with Schumacher out he would have been in the top 3 this year and maybe driving for Ferrari.
