TICKETS: HIGH AND LOW SEASON????

Ok, so it is like this. I am trying to get tickets for Bogota for the first week of December. I was going to get one last week for less than $550, but since the flight was making two stops I though about it a bit; by the time I made my mind like a week or two after the price went up to a little more than $600 with only one stop. So I called this travel agent and he tells me that by middle of August or September the tickets will go down - that right now is high season and that is why the price went up. (because is summer, right!) But, I am thinking that around the time he suggested the price will be even higher because December (high season) will be approaching right?! so now, I am confused. I do not if I should get the one I viewed for a little over $600 or wait around Agust or September to get them cheaper. What's your advice as experienced travelers? => should I get it now or you think there is a chance to get it cheaper around that time?

Would not count on that....Well Bogota might be different ball game with competition..Medellin limited...I just bought 464.70 December 7th to the 11th..MIA-MDE including all taxes..You can get 446.00 with Copa right now but for direct I paid and extra 18.00..Now AA is having an amazing sale for 335.70 which I purchase three segments in October and November including Thanksgiving weekend but my December segment did not qualify..Also don't tell me Christmas tickets are going to get less..Copa is already sold out December 21st..I purchased at 647.00 in July with Avianca..MIA-MDE..12/21-01/02.
So you can play the waiting game but it could save you or burn you...

Copa is 446.00 MIA-Medellin...right now thru Thanksgiving weekend..December Copa goes up and up..My mistake your flying December early so Copa is out...AA is the way to go right now buy you better buy your ticket before August 6th that is the last day you buy on the special..

AA Special pay by August 6th.. is 335.70 or 464.70 for September,October,November, and the first week of December..I paid 335.70 for three segments in October and November and had to pay 464.70 for the December Segment of December 7th to 11th..

Yes AA is a direct fly Miami to Medellin and Miami to Cali is a direct flight.

I have really started to learn the price wars and getting feeling for flights to Colombia...I usually stick to a price in my head which is nothing more than 475.00...When I see a price drop I jump right away and get as many tickets as possible at that price if I now its an unusual low price because those seats can go fast..and have last those price by waiting over night..Now 335.70 God Almight American direct flight to Medellin bought damn three plus the one in December in one shot..even if had to use a Credit Card and you have payoff within 30 days.

Happy Shopping Waiting game can cost you or you can save its Las Vegas..

Carlotica you know what enjoy your trip what ever you get your ticket for...If you fly not to much back and forth don't worry about the price..

I am just a stickler because I fly back and forth every two weeks to MDE and is part of my monthly living budget so I fight for every penny I get on the prices,miles,and perks..It sucks the airlines own me but they also know I am not a dummy anymore..American should be sending my 10% coupon soon..on time I even know how there marketing dept works thats crazy..

Yeah panthdave I will. I already purchased with Mexicana for $623, so not bad - they kept going up - first is was 473, after than 573 and now $623, so I won't play the waiting game. I had a feeling that around September the price will be around $800 or so, so I play it safe. I know Copa which they say its cheap too - did not have tickets around that time, so I made my choice right then...

wow - thats an excellent price alezzz, but I guess is not high season that is why is so inexpensive. I am sure for December is going up. Now a relative just fly with Avianca and he says the service is terrible, so I don't know how important is that for some people, but I want to make my fly as pleasant as possible - without forgetting the affordable subject, so.. anyway, have fun!!!
