Angel_Gabriel says on Jan 11, 2005, 08:59: Maybe you should make tons of friends so you have a pick of who to spend sundays with and every other day in between. Recommend you go to a local bars on the zona rosa & hopefully your Spanish is good enough to conversate. Tip: just get to know people with no pressure or obligations from YOUR part, you will see how easily the tide turns around eventually, play smooth & secure. Bogota is not a US city & you should be ahead of the game down there although chics tend to be a bit inaccessible than say, Cali. Good Luck amigo!

miamimike says on Jan 11, 2005, 09:07: Change your tactics Morgus-why don't you buy Daypasses to a HealthClub??--Lots of Women there or if there is a Hospital in the Neighborhood go there(don't laugh)Hit the Cafeteria and strike up a conversation with a Nurse or a table full of them! Buy her lunch. You will have your pick and best of all-no competition and you'll meet a quality lady. Go where the Competition is non-existent! "Wait a minute. What did you just say? You're predicting $4-a-gallon gas? That's interesting. I hadn't heard that." -- Feb. 28, 2008 --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Angel_Gabriel says on Jan 11, 2005, 11:00: Yes, there is a sense of insecurity in Bogota bare in mind I was only there for 6 days so it may not be an accurate feeling for most times & lifes in that city. At a bar in Zona Rosa, a girl told me more or less in these words "esto es Bogota aqui no es siempre seguro" This comment also came out of two other women as well. The zona rosa seemed gritty. but once inside a club you go with the flow & enjoy the night away, dude, keep your eyes open for the girls!!!

miamimike says on Jan 11, 2005, 17:27: Good place to eat also Crewmaster Crewmaster-these Hosp. Cafeterias are great for many reasons-true-always could meet quality women there--I check them out for meals also as they(kitchens) usually are pretty clean and food is reasonable. Many times at the front information desk they have lists of nearby residents who rent out rooms or studios to relatives visiting patients. Cheap! One stop shopping and dining!! ja! ja! dragonhf says on Jan 11, 2005, 19:48: Nothing to do??? I traveled to Bogota in June 2004, all by my self. And I can insure you that I was buzy every day. It´s lot of stuff you can do there, specially if you like to party and dance. If you are in the North of Bogota, go to Zona Rosa, there is lot of clubs - Gotica is open to 5 am. In central they are a few bars. If you dare to go to South like I did almost everyday, go to Primera Mayo. You can go there everyday and it is always people around that area. I prefer Primero Mayo because there isn´t so much tourist there and you will be able to see the local people party. Or why not take a cab and go to an area called Galleria. Lots of nice clubs there too.

Gomezman5 says on Jan 11, 2005, 20:26: zona rosa?? forget it ..go to a WHISKERIA !!..... All you want is to get a woman to keep you company in your hotel room, go to one of the 1500 whiskerias from chapinero,to CR 7, to,CR15 to all over the north side, and you can go back to your hotel room, turn off the CNN and just have a good time.

dragonhf says on Jan 11, 2005, 20:33: Agree with umm Zona Rosa is probably the most safties place you can be at night in the whole Bogota. Should I tell you guys why? Because in the North of Bogota, there are only rich people living and they pay the military and policemen to keep the "garbage" away. For example, the police/military only allowed Primero mayo to open to 2 am, when many clubs in Zona Rosa are allowed open to 5 am. And you can never see a begger in the streets. But in the central you should not walk alone around in the dark, because near the mainstreet there is a hookerstreet, so all the bad people hangs around there. And don´t fight at primero mayo, they don´t fight man to man, it´s a gang against you alone. I been in Bogota for 28 days and 27 of them I was going out late at night, so it is pretty safe there. Don´t read that nonsence at the newspaper, they always exaggerate. Good luck and have fun.

Gomezman5 says on Jan 11, 2005, 20:59: GIB is right !! It's so damn irritating too. You see these police riding around on their motorcycles...or have their motos parked and they're chatting in front of a bunch of beggers...the kids being the worse...bothering you relentlessly in plain view of the police, and do you think they care? It's obvious that they are harassing you..and those fools just stand there!

caslug says on Jan 11, 2005, 21:04: Beggers in the North.. I was walking down Calle 85 during the day and remember seeing the those police cadets searching and frisking a homeless family. I saw that a several times in Zona Rosa. I even gave bottles water to some homeless family in front of the Carrula(?) supermarket on Calle 85 & Carrera 15. Zona Rosa is "pretty" safe, to paraphase forest gump, "safest and safe can be".

Gomezman5 says on Jan 11, 2005, 21:15: caslug--"Carulla" --a great store ! I went there many times...I will never forget many years ago, it had one of the old time ATM's there, the type you had to insert your card into instead of the swipe kind. It took my card and would not give it back. It said it had a "capture order." I had to wait until the next day and then I had to convince them to give it back. I did not have to convice to them too hard once I started slipping some pesos his way.
