What does this have to do with Colombia or Coca? :

"Cameron Douglas, son of actor Michael Douglas, was arrested on July 28, 2009, in New York City as part of a crystal meth sting operation. Investigators claim Douglas was turned in by a potential middleman who was asked to transport a large quantity of the drug "meth" from California to New York."

"Twice caught with cocaine"- once with possession of a relatively small personal amount and a syringe, and the other for trying to buy (buy sting). The major "smuggling" arrest was for for crystal meth. In my opinion, relates to a "domestic" vice international event.

I agree, but then you would have many Hollywood celebrities, politicians, law enforcement, etc.. paying. Do you know how many cocaine consumers are in the US and Europe?

(2008) Argentina, that mythical land of nose jobs and activities made to ruin them completely, has recently topped the United Nations list of cocaine-abusing nations in Latin America.

I didn't see anything in the story about Colombia either. The stat is interesting, though, because Colombia is not on the list.

Makopp5--Following your train of Logic we should have made Reagan/North & Crowd pay for the same damage; after all, didn't they also traffic in Cocaine in the 80s and do the same you accuse Douglas of doing now?

"In 1984, U.S. officials began receiving reports of Contra cocaine trafficking. In 1985, another Contra leader "told U.S. authorities that his group was being paid $50,000 by Colombian traffickers for help with a 100-kilo cocaine shipment and that the money would go 'for the cause' of fighting the Nicaraguan government." A 1985 National Intelligence Estimate revealed cocaine trafficking links to a top commander working under Contra leader Edén Pastora.[1] Pastora had complained about such charges as early as March 1985, claiming that "two 'political figures' in Washington told him last week that State Department and CIA personnel were spreading the rumor that he is linked to drug trafficking in order to isolate his movement."[2]

On December 20, 1985, these and other charges were laid out in an Associated Press article after an extensive investigation which included interviews with "officials from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Customs Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Costa Rica's Public Security Ministry, as well as rebels and Americans who work with them." Five American Contra supporters who worked with the rebels confirmed the charges, noting that "two Cuban-Americans used armed rebel troops to guard cocaine at clandestine airfields in northern Costa Rica. They identified the Cuban-Americans as members of the 2506 Brigade, an anti-Castro group that participated in the 1961 Bay of Pigs attack on Cuba. Several also said they supplied information about the smuggling to U.S. investigators." One of the Americans "said that in one ongoing operation, the cocaine is unloaded from planes at rebel airstrips and taken to an Atlantic coast port where it is concealed on shrimp boats that are later unloaded in the Miami area."[3]

On March 16, 1986, the San Francisco Examiner published a report on the "1983 seizure of 430 pounds of cocaine from a Colombian freighter" in San Francisco which indicated that a "cocaine ring in the San Francisco Bay area helped finance Nicaragua's Contra rebels."

Billy--Not to worry! There is a Bush Connection being Bush One. At first he claimed he "Had No Knowledge" of any such deal; reality was, he was at the table when the decisions were made,,,

"The administration was shaken by a scandal in 1986, when it was revealed that administration officials had secretly arranged weapon sales to Iran, and had used the proceeds to fund the anticommunist Contras in Nicaragua, a direct violation of the law.[21] When the Iran-Contra Affair, as it became known, broke to the media, Bush, like Reagan, stated that he had been "out of the loop" and unaware of the diversion of funds,[30] although this was later questioned.[31] Public opinion polls taken at the time indicated that the public questioned Bush's explanation of being an "innocent bystander" while the trades were occurring; this led to the notion that he was a "wimp"

I met Michael Douglas' cousin back at the dawn of time when he was in Colombia making a movie called The Drifter. A bunch of my friends from The Colombo Americano got to be in it as statists. I don't think the movie was ever released.

That's a Colombian connection for ya guys. The Douglas family has always been aware of the great possibilities that Colombia offers.

doesn't seem like he's some capo..... a whole 500gms. wow. and he should pay for the problems he's done to colombia?
the little and i do mean little street children selling 'folds' move more than that in a week in bogota...easy.

the ones who should "pay for the damage they've done to colombia" are the escobars, castanos ex presidents and the rich elite, et al. the ones who run this show and who are involved in the movement of tons weekly/monthly.....one bust, 38 tons. now there's some stash.

it appears that mr douglas jr. has an addiction as the article notes he was found with 'paraphenalia' a syringe. let's keep a perspective on this.

well i see and understand your logic, martin, but that's a bit like punishing the campesinos on castenos ranch because the jefe is a drug dealin, murdering, terrorist. hell, for years in my life, i got high, never dealt drugs, but certainly did my share of party favors. and i don't, quite honestly, think i've damaged colombia. i saw more people tearing up bars and restaurant drunk on alcohol that i did high on grass or coke. not a defense, don't get me wrong, but it's like giving the young pandelleros who sell a gram of coke ten years in the slam..;..don't make too much sense, but we've thousands of young men in the joint doing rediculous time for non violent crimes. do they owe something to colombia...i don't think so.

would that 'getting money to help colombia' would help colombia. (i agree wholeheartedly) unfortunately, the corruption and greed at the top of the pecking order robs colombia, even before the money leaves the country. there are so many scoundrels there that fleece the public trust that even if they taxed all the users/dealers worldwide, i personally doubt ten cents of the take would reach the streets and programs of colombia. for me, it's sad but true. my heart bleeds over how the public is taken by dishonest politicians and people in power. during the terrible downturn of the late 90's when the economy was in ruins. i remember public workers/servants from the police to office staff, went for months without their pay because the 'bosses' the mayors and governors, siphoned off the money before it got to the workers. i had numbers of friends who lost their properties to bankrupsies and collusion just like what's happening in the states now. anyone that's been up to the lake at penol....just look at the castle of the alcalde of rionegro.....not to mention others....all this on a mayor's salary, while the workers got paid nothing, for months, many losing their most modest homes and apts.

if it's possible--which i doubt--to clean up the corruption in colombia, there's no end to the advances that could be made by projects and programs which are designed to help the less fortunate and displaced. corruption in colombia has to be some of the highest anywhere, it sure stands out and bears it's ugly face all over the place. being voted into office is a license to steal and all are guilty (we can say this goes on all over the world and this is true...however, we're talking about colombia and that's our focus). i also remember back around 97ish, when the first u.s. moneys (18 billion) dollars was finally approved for colombia....boy, what a party in the streets of bogota......some for you, some for me, some more for you, some more for me, ad nauseum. i even called janet reno's office and sen. trent lott's office from colombia wondering what the hell were they doing. from reno's office: 'we know what's going on, don't call us, we'll call you" and from lott's office: "this is way over your head son..." yeah, right, way over my head....what? like a free island in the bahamas for lott for the favor?

corruption is the outer face of money.....and folks are easily bought....perfect example is the narcotics trade...in latin america roughly 100 billion dollars...that kind of money can corrupt damn near anyone. what's the solution, martin, i'm not sure... how do we raise the hearts and minds of humanity? no body's reinventing the wheel here, this problem is as old as man.

Cameron Douglas Girlfriend Arrested After Trying To Pass Drugs In Court

The girlfriend of Cameron Douglas, actor Michael Douglas’ incarcerated son, was arrested Monday after trying to pass drugs to the 30-year-old inmate in open court.

Now here’s a couple who deserve their own segment on America’s Dumbest Criminals! Unbelievable….

Kelly Sott was arrested after a law enforcement official caught the woman attempting to pass Douglas an electric toothbrush filled with heroin, The Insider has learned.

Douglas was arrested on July 28 after he was allegedly caught dealing methamphetamine at New York’s posh Hotel Gansevoort, The Associated Press reports. It was the second drug arrest for the out-of-work actor, who was also arrested on cocaine possession charges in California in 2007.

Cameron Douglas faces a possible life sentence if convicted.
