They're both evil

I'm a right-wing conservative. And I sincerely believe that the only good communist is a silenced one.

However, murder is murder is murder. And after reading through a recent post about which are the safer areas of Colombia, and noticing some remarks in veiled sympathy to the AUC, I thought we should all be reminded that the FARC's rightist rivals are equally squalid and evil. They all target innocent civilians.

The AUC only grew out of the inability of the government to stop the violence. M-19 put down their guns.

The FARC leaders are getting exactly what they deserve. I support URIBE and so do what? p of Colombians?

I know it must be painful for you to confront the current reality that the U.S. is not what it purports to be. I dont like it either Sonny. I would much rather think like u do, but the facts demand otherwise. It doesnt mean that there arent many great Americans out there. It doesnt mean we still dont have great academic institutions. It doesnt mean we dont have geniuses out there in their garages tinkering away on some new cutting edge concept. It does mean that we have lost the moral imperative. We are no longer seen as the guy wearing the white hat. Our govt. has been coopted by special interest group with a private agenda. I too think it a grand idea for the U.S. to put down its guns and pick up the plowshares. We got a lot of fixin to do in our home court. So much so that we cant afford the luxury of thinking about how to fix anything else anywhere outside of our own boundaries. Nice talkin witchya..........

Also the problem is that the viewer's eyes have changed. This bad view of the world comes at a certain age for most people. It's just that when you're 23 you don't really notice recessions, wars and other crap AS MUCH as you do when you're 50. Who cares about healthcare at 23? Who cares about foreign currency movements or the GDP or what's going on in Palestine when you're 23? But when your 23 all these things, good and bad exist.

Also when you're 23 the music of the time is the best.

Sarah Palin may not have been as sharp as Biden but let me offer this to all. She has been in political office for a very short period of time. In the debate she held her own against a man that has been in political office over half of his life. She should NOT have been able to even stand on the same platform as Biden but she did and given this as a factor, one can only think about how strong she could be in a few years. Then maybe put Biden and Palin together again and deside. All I can do is vote. I win some and I loose some but I GET TO VOTE without a gun to my head.
I wish we had a new set of politicans available to us here. The press has had to much free hand to drag up any and everything about a man, woman, children, past, present, and even predict the future. In some countries if this happened you would loose your life. It makes it hard for anyone with any ambition to put their selves and families in that kind of spotlignt. No one person can make the changes necessary but as a whole can. Uribe has done a great job. is he perfect? No and never will be. The USA is not perfect but having been to many countries I can say that each time I return home I thank GOD I am an American and have a choice and a voice. My heart is here and in Colombia because I believe in them both. I did not mean for this to sound political rather just my feelings and not intended to insult or hurt anyone or any country. Hey,

USA will have a black man president, or a female vice president this year and so why don't you look at the bigger picture. If the citizens of the USA want to change the direction of the country, they will.

We have heard all this negative stuff about how the USA is hated by everyone including many Americans, but one thing is pretty clear, who you gonna call for help? russia?

The same kind of negativity is evident in posts that are clearly anti Uribe, but Colombians can change the course of their country if they desire and again, who you gonna call for help? chavez?

Just because you are sincere doesn't make you right.

Thank God for countries that do allow the people to choose the direction their country will go in.

Iraq is an example as well, probably not all that democratic, probably the USA was guilty of many oversteps and abuse. ( I don't claim to understand these things as well as many of you on both sides of the arguements ) but when the people in Iraq decided that enough was enough, that was enough to get them on a path to more security and less violence. The surge clearly gave them them the security they needed to beable to risk stepping up and exercising their will. Seems to me that Uribe has created his own little surge and that the Colombian people in relative security can now determine the direction they want their country to go in.

I am pretty simple, and it looks as if FARC is dying not so much because of Uribe but because the will of the people. Oh I am sure it will make it more dangerous in other areas of South America where FARC is allowed to freely function, but Americans face those pressures in many parts of the world everyday since taking a stand against extremists. Had we been nice and negotiated with our adversaries who only seek to destroy us, do you really think we would have been safer?

Someday I hope Colombia will be a place where the police act as police should act and that policies will be in place to prevent the atrosities that are spoken about. But soldiers are trained to kill their adversaries and every soldier has the potential for the very worst in human behavior.

Somehow I just can't get to the point of believing that FARC is working towards an elimination of atrosities and human rights violations.

Both Bush and Uribe inherited severe problems with internal security. Neither of them is perfect, but they are far from evil.

I am not right wing, but I appreciate the fact that if I was an extremist, I would not want Bush or Uribe in power.

Peace,

David

COLOMBIA and in Medellin a city that 20 years ago was run by people that made money by selling drugs, kidnapping, murder, rap, and anything else that they felt the need to do. Now look at it. It is safer there then many cities here in the USA. Who helped it to become a place of freedom without the fear of death daily? The people did this with the help of others coming together to rid themselves of something very bad and turn it into something very good. THE PEOPLE. An Illusion?? I think not.

Sonny, I appreciate where yur comin from, I too was in Vietnam, but unlike u am not proud of it. I was only 18 when they sent me over there, and the more I learned about what was goin on, the more I realized what a sham I was part of. Remember this was the era that Bob Dylan was writing songs like "Blowin in the Wind" and "Hey Mr. Tamborine Man" and "its a Hard Rain Gonna Fall". American govt. imperialistic meddling has been goin on for a long time, but if anything, what with superior communications, advanced weaponry, and more cooperation amongst the elite of the world, it has gotten worse in recent history. My roots go deep in north america, because my grandmother was Cherokee indian. My mothers ancestors were among the first arrivals in New England. I think I have right to speak my mind. And my mind says that we have been mislead for quite a long time now. And not only have we been mislead, but we have mislead the rest of the world. It brings to mind a biblical quote, (and Im not religious in the conventional sense) " and the whole world will wonder after the image of the beast". If it wasnt intended to refer to the great world power of this era, then it might just as well, cuz it fits perfectly. We may end up with a black president, or a female vice president, but it doesnt really matter, cuz its all a facade, all theatre. They will be working for the same taskmasters, one way or another. Obama is intelligent and speaks well and will be able to comprehend the complexities of any given problem, but he will never the less be taking his marching orders from on high. Palin is a joke, and has no bizness running the local charity fund raiser. do u realize that if she had her way, all the great books (most anyway) of the last 200 yrs would be banned from the public library system of Alaska? She must have won the election in Alaska the way they do here in Panama. Whoever buys the natives the most guaro, (cheap rum) wins. I am so disgusted with the current politcal state of affairs I have lost faith completely. There is nobody to vote for. You can write in Ron Paul or Ralph Nader or your own name and do so in good conscience. Because the American politcal system has lost all credibility. It kept up a modicum of appearence for quite a long time, but has finally achieved the enviable result of rendering itself pure "showbiz" How many of you are going to fall for it??????

Until yesterday, only this 11-kilometer stretch of superhighway had no speed limit, just like the rest of Germany's legendary autobahns."

Something else for you to read and you write incorrect statements on this site.

"germany every one free health usa 50 million with none and rising"

Health Care in Germany
David G. Green, Ben Irvine and Ben Cackett (2005)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the exception of about 2 million permanent civil servants, and the self-employed, Germans who earn below Euro 3,862 gross salary per month in 2004 MUST join one of the 300 statutory sickness funds. Those above the mandatory insurance threshold may opt out of the state system and buy private insurance instead but many opt to remain in the state system - 10 per cent of the population are voluntarily insured.

German sickness funds are required to be financially self-sufficient and premiums are set as a percentage of income. This percentage varies from fund to fund, with an average of 14 per cent, to fall to 13 per cent under Schroeder reforms. The premiums are deducted from pay packets with employer and employee paying half each.

Healthcare in Germany Q: How is the healthcare system funded?

A: Until they reach the retirement age of 65, people must, by law, pay into health insurance plans (and, since 1994, an additional long-term care plan). The health insurance plans are either state-regulated or private. After retirement, contribution payments for the state-regulated plans stop (although private patients continue payments), but coverage is continued until death.

Did I miss something? Where did it say FREE.????

Sorry that the racial issues exist but to claim that the USA is still predominantly racist like it's roots is not supported by the statistics. Obama may win because many americans are wanting to see a blackman in the white house.

And I will always believe that Bush did not pick two black Secretary of States because they were black. He may have been secretly rooting for them to suceed as blacks as many whites do. And it isn't white guilt. I believe you want it because it is the morally right thing to do.

It is the liberal democrat who I predict will say all the right politically correct things in the area of race and then secretly harbor racial hangups and predjudices.

But mostly speculation on my part like most of your comments. My point remains that it is the will of the people in free countries that determines the direction of the country not the president.

Peace,

David

Ujay,

The people in the USA can change the political system if there is enough of a desire. We could also have alternative fuel options in place if we cared enough to do so. You read Bush stole it from Gore in 2000. Well he must have stole it again in 2008.

Now it seems that you think that one of the two presidential contenders will steal it again in 2004.

I don't claim to know much about the electoral college that allowed Bush to win in 2000, But I think most peoples claims about the lack of freedom or opportunity in the USA are pretty exagerated.

Peace!

David

"But you have to still be open to the possibility that although "some" things may seem negative ,in another light they may just well be positive,
And then sonny ,you have to understand I put a lot of shit as well,

And I can not be questioned ,I know every thing there is to know about nothing,"

There is very little you have to say that is positive or true. You are the king/queen of insult. You have made it to the top of the Crap Pile

I beg to differ Sonny. I say he's on the bottom of the crap pile.
