themedellinmap.com - La Mesa Libanesa, Triada...

LA MESA LIBANESA
It is said that La Mesa Libanesa used to be part of a small empire of Lebanese restaurants in Medellin. Unfortunately, a mysterious illness quite literally brought the owner to his knees and after endless expensive operations, he is now confined to a wheel chair.

What remains of this former empire is a small and quaint restaurant which offers an equally humble line up of meals. The food itself is ok, though a little bland.

Indeed, your evening's entertainment is perhaps more likely to come from chatting to the owner about his former glory, or if you get lucky, enjoying the belly dancing Paisas that appear from time to time.

PASTELERIA SANTA ELENA
Depending on your take of the average Colombian croissant, Pastelería Santa Elena is either a complete waste of money or a gift from the gods.

While there does seem to be a little inconsistency from store to store, Pastelería Santa Elena delivers high quality sweet puddings and savoury snacks at upmarket prices.

If you are in anyway picky, it can be a beacon in the dark, especially at bus terminals or other places where your options are limited.

Even if you are not picky, you may at some point appreciate Pastelería Santa Elena's luxurious birthday cakes, which will always generate a big smile if you have left the present buying until the last minute.

TRIADA
Triada tries its hand at just about everything from pizzas to seafood to sandwiches. The result isn't spectacular, but it is good enough.

The appropriately named restaurant is part of a 3-tier complex in Parque Lleras, which includes both Oz nightclub and Woka bar.

Triada has attracted the rich and famous over the years as several photos inside the restaurant pay testament. But, it is open to question whether this is because Triada is genuinely special or because the owner, who also owns Bodytech, rubs shoulders with the right people.

If you're not rich and famous, you'll appreciate the 20% discount between 12 and 7 pm, while there is also free parking for one hour in Rose Street.
