themedellinmap.com - El Tabun, Franchyes...

EL TABUN
Modern yet traditional, intimate yet energetic; El Tabun tingles the senses at every opportunity.

While other international restaurants in Medellin often bow down to a diluted version of authentic cuisine, El Tabun refuses to pander to Paisa's love of bland food.

With cloth ceilings, hypnotic Arabic music and belly dancing complete with jingly jewelry, El Tabun's sensual approach slowly hypnotises you into a different world, or at least a different city.

The freshly baked bread with houmous and 12 side dishes consisting of various dips, salads and roasted vegetables is a great opener.

Deliveries are possible, but with so much emphasis on atmosphere, you would be reckless to stay at home.

FRANCHYES
Hot dogs and cold Cordilleras beer are obvious ingredients to win over the locals, but 80s rock music and an ultra squeaky clean setting are a touch of genius for this small but slick German restaurant.

Franchyes functions with such regamented order that it makes McDonalds looks like an indiffernt, inconsistent buffet for the elderly. Indeed, it may well spawn many other outlets and still guarentee a consistent experience for its customers.

To compensate for a lack of disorder, there are 10 different sauces in which to bathe your sliced German frankfurter accompanied by some tasty fried potato chips.

MUSEO EL CASTILLO
Inspired by the Loire castles in France, this medieval, gothic castle was built around 1930 and shortly after became the country residence of Don Diego Echavarria Misas.

Don Diego wanted the property to be accessible to the general public and in 1971 it became a museum showcasing his collection of paintings, sculptures, china, cristal and furniture. Of equal interest, are the many personal belongings belonging to Don Diego's family which remain despite their absence.

Concerts, exhibitions and plays are now performed in the castle's auditorium, while the grounds also play host to regular courses in painting, sculpture, ceramics and music.

Remarkably, there on no restrictions on people walking their dogs in the beautiful surrounding gardens. So long as you are willing to scoop the poop, your dog can roam free with his very own luxury castle in the heart of Poblado.
