The Colombian police has informed the Swedish authorities that neither the FARC or the Paramilitary groups are suspected for the abduction of the Swedish citizen, Roland Larsson, age 68, at Tierra Alta, Cordoba, in May.
The Colombian police says that they believe the suspects may be apprehended shortly and are people closely related to the Colombian-Swedish couple.

Cheers,
Desi

Desideria (Moderator) says on Jun 14, 2007, 14:29: These pictures were published yesterday in a Swedish newspaper. It looks like the relatives of the Colombian common-law wife orchestrated the disappearance of the Swede. Desideria (Moderator) says on Jun 14, 2007, 14:48: It wasn't internet He was working at the construction of hydroelectrical plant in Colombia (remember the two Swedish engineers that were kidnapped from the same site and released later?) and decided to stay in Colombia and get himself a Colombian woman half his age. If he turns out dead she will inherit...I suppose; wasn't there some law about having lived together for two years making them a common-law couple? Robert Jorge says on Jun 14, 2007, 17:43: Seems pretty fishy to me. I would be inclined to agree with Scotty ... there must be some kind of tie to the Bush administration. Maybe Haliburton was a bidder on the dam project and lost to the Swedish company.

|
Robert Jorge says on Jun 14, 2007, 18:35: I have heard of similar stories before - but they never made international news of course. My friend, a Colombiano but US permanent resident, was kidnapped years ago. He apparently wasn't held too long and paid what was to him a lot of money, some $20.000 USD. After being released and doing some digging, he found out it was a cousin or two of his and their friends who set it up. They knew exactly how much money he had in his bank account in the US, info like that.

kalder says on Jun 15, 2007, 00:48: Perhaps this isn't pertinent to the tone of the thread, but if I'd been him I'd have married someone much older and considerably better looking. "kalder- have you ever had a woman?"--Sam Salmon |

Desideria (Moderator) says on Jun 15, 2007, 01:28: It was perhaps I myself who set the tone for this thread on a rather jaded level. "None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free." —Johann Wolfgang von Goethe |

kalder says on Jun 15, 2007, 02:12: My wife often remarks on how old gringos frequently ignore beautiful older women and seek out (in her words)'ugly children'. I wonder if it's a biological drive, rather than purely psychological. "kalder- have you ever had a woman?"--Sam Salmon |

cayita says on Jun 15, 2007, 04:42: Desi "I hope that the old dude is ok and alive" Usually when this kind of thing happens it is very sad. If it is the family behind it then he will know them and that ends any possibility that he will ever be released in fact it is probably the case that he is already dead. Very sad.
