Giann says on Dec 26, 2006, 10:15: Yes totally agree. This is a war against the Largest Rebel Army in the world backed and funded by a lucrative trade. They have better equipment then the Taliban and Al-Queda.We need dedicated ground attack helicopters and other weaponry to accomplish the mission.Nice videos on the Air Force!

Sr Tertius says on Dec 27, 2006, 08:19: What we need is less propaganda and better policy. And fewer idiots cheering. "When the finger points to the moon, the fool looks at the finger" (Chinese proverb) 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Giann says on Dec 27, 2006, 09:55: Parden On the policy I totally agree. We should help the campesinos in making coca into legal products such as Coca Sek with the Indians are making. What do you mean by idiots cheering? I still have friends from my military days that are still in hot zones in Colombia I very much hope that other citizens and people that come to Colombia show some respect to the men who gladly give there lives for the country.

cali373 says on Dec 27, 2006, 10:21: Well stated Tertius, just remember ignorance is bliss. Some folks just cannot get past the illusion that the Military is not actually fighting for the democratic institutions of Colombia, but protecting those who mock the institution of democracy. Remove the guerilla, you will still have an organized movement against the status quo. You cannot kill a spirit that is in the heart and minds of most colombians, A spririt that fights for fair representation in a so-called stable democracy. One day the status quo will lose their throne and all colombians will be able to share a piece of the colombia pie. Smile if you are a thinker! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Giann says on Dec 27, 2006, 10:43: Coming from a soldier We do not make up the policies. We just follow orders and do our duty. The Politicians make up the policies not the regular grunt on the ground in the jungle.

Dan says on Jan 14, 2007, 04:36: just thought of this... I've seen people I work with look down on the Colombian soldiers just because of the conditions they have to put up with. One thing that they don't think about is that many of them have more combat time than any US soldier. When the american people are saying that our guys are deployed too long, maybe someone should show what the Colombian soldier have to endure. I've seen soldiers in Colombia that were injured and next to death or survivors of an ambush and they still serve. God Bless America! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Monpirri says on Jan 14, 2007, 10:21: 100% I agree I agree with Dan 1000%, Colombian soldiers among the best in the world!! They have over 40 years experience and almost non stop. They have been deployed also in international conflicts since the Korean War. Annette Taddeo for US Congress 2008 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

aztec says on Jan 14, 2007, 11:58: Did not Colombian soldiers... ...also serve in WWII? Read somewhere that Colombia was the only Central or South American country that contributed troops in the war against Hitler's Nazism.

miamimike says on Jan 14, 2007, 16:52: They(Colombian Volunteered to Work In Private Security In Iraq for some American Security company who advertised in Colombia, but then after arriving, the Salaries(of the colombian soldiers, most of were retired or had prior Military service) were drastically lowered like from the Usual and promised Wage of around $8000+ USD monthly to less then $2500-$3000 monthly. Due to the High Risk of the Job, At this point they declined and were informed they would have to pay their Airfare roundtrip back to Colombia because they were reneging on the Deal. They were NOT reneging, only not accepting the New Pay Terms. Not sure of how the situation ended as it was 6-12 months ago. Anyone know? These Soldiers would have been prime Candiates for this type of Duty due to their vast experience in Colombia with Terrorists. If anything, their Salaries should have drastically increased, not lowered, due to this experience!!!!!! "Wait a minute. What did you just say? You're predicting $4-a-gallon gas? That's interesting. I hadn't heard that." -- Feb. 28, 2008 --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Monpirri says on Jan 14, 2007, 17:52: Colombian military personnel It looks like the Colombian volunteers with prior military background need a good lawyer to help them secure a decent salary prior to arriving in a combat zone. Any good laywers in the house? Annette Taddeo for US Congress 2008 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Dan says on Jan 15, 2007, 05:04: I remember reading a long time ago here about the soldiers going to be security but I didn't hear anything about lowering their pay. If they had a signed contract, they can probably get lawyers and go to court since the company that hired them changed their terms. God Bless America! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
