The power of wishful thinking

Us boys, we love the Colombianas right? Because we think they're some of the most beautiful women in the world. Which is probably part-truth and part-hype. I think that, in aesthetic terms, the proportion of people who are good looking is pretty much the same throughout most countries. But a myth of the exotic, alluring Latina is out there in the male psyche and it's what we choose to see when we get off the plane. So that's what we do see: we focus on the gorgeous ones and filter out the less prepossessing.

I was wondering if it worked the other way round: Is there a Colombiana myth that most gringos look like the guys they see on the screen. If I go to a cinema in Colombia, who's there looking down at the audience? Brad Pitt and George Clooney. If I channel hop the TV, there's all those in-shape, handsome guys who star in 'Prison Break', 'Supernatural', 'Smallville' etc. Surely with such a barrage of images, many girls over there must assume that gringos are some kind of sexual master race ;) And when the boys from the north fly in, that's what the girls see. And it's media conditioning 1, objectivity 0. Perhaps not with the obviously fat and elderly, but more than likely with the merely ordinary or average.

So the question is, do Colombian living rooms, bars, park benches, street corners ring with the breathless trill of:
'Ay amiga...not only does my gringo novio own his own house...he looks like Tom Cruise...'

Just a thought.

Absolutely, in some cultures women are just more feminine and/or stylish. If I pick up my kid from school, I can (for example) tell the Italian mothers apart from the English ones with a glance of the utmost brevity.

One set have chic hair styles, subtle make-up, are elegantly dressed and have seen the inside of a gym. The others have been poured mishappenly into baggy track pants, draped in shapeless day-glo jackets, decorated with tattoos and have obviously seen the inside of a KFC or three.

No prizes for guessing which is which.

GUYS, GUYS, PLEASE, PLEASE let’s be honest here, we love colombianas not cus they are the most beautiful, we love them cus they are easy and plentiful. Right?
Take your pasty ass to Puerto Rico, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Venezuela, Argentina, etc. and see what happens. Nothing, No CHUCHA FOR YOU! Sure you’ll get plenty of pros but not regular broads like you get in Colombia. Colombianas adore pasty guys; ask any of them. This is a phenomenon most prevalent among the middle class and higher of Colombian society..

over 5 million colombianos in USA and only 27 barranquilleros, i'm one. CURRAMBA, EL MEJOR VIVIDERO DEL MUNDO!

Interesting; while there definitely is truth in this, there is a reality out there. Also i believe beauty is just as much behavioural as it is physcial.
(1) numbers do not lie; take the measures of colombian women "waist, chest, hips, and weight", compare averages with gringa america. Of couse, if you like heavier unproportion women, you can choose the latter.
(2) dress and presentation; quality of dress and makeup, while colombiana has practiced this since she's 7, gringas can't get it right, unless she's a high end attorney in her mid 30s.
(3) attitude; how many times has a colombiana said to you to "F at %$ off" when you approach her to tell her you thought she was beautiful. Gringa amercia is who is really media conditioned to beleive that they can be beautiful all through what they purchase/consume. hey only in america can you really believe you can be anything you want

To be fair, gringas don't slap you in a public rage when she gets jealous cuz you honestly did not look at that hottie at the bar, then have passionately hot make-up sex sessions, ...how illogical and annoying ! I would prefer to be dragged to the sat morning art show put on by her office, as we show her boss and coworkers the happy yuppie couple we are, since i made her breakfast that morning, did the laundry together, and we had sex only last week (with the lights off of course).
