Ingird, Ingrid, Ingrid....
Of course they are going to talk about Ingrid until it snows two feet in Bogota! You know, upper class politician and connected to France and all that with all the connections of the estrato seis and her mother runs orphanages. This is natural and nothing wrong this this mind you!
It is good to read about the other hostages if you can en SEMANA and other forms of media. The soldiers from poor families who were drafted or joined up for a lack of better opportunities in Colombia. These hostages never went to COLEGIO NUEVA GRANADA. The families of these histages still held, while probably happy over the rescue, still wait and wonder?
I feel bad for the common soldiers of the FARC. Look at some of the pictures of how young some of those FARC members are? They should be in school and instead have bullets wrapped around themselves. One article I read about 8 years in SEMANA ago talked about how some lady in Colombia sent her 13 year old daughter into the FARC since there was nothing else for her daughter to do.
I keep reading about $5 billion for Plan Colombia but why do a few young boys on a cart being pulled by a donkey have to pull cardboard out of the garbage bins 150 metres from the entrance to the US Embassy to make a few pesos for their families?
I watched that CNN Ingrid special for a while and turned it off. Talk to the other hostages and talk to humble people because that is what this is about sooner or later. A mother who sends her 13 year daughter into the ranks of the FARC because they have no other opportunity. That speaks volumes...

dwmte7 says on Jul 6, 2008, 09:08: you're right sanandressi....millions offered for the release of the big four, but the countless, dying and suffering in captivitiy for years now...even captive for years before ingred and the americans "the important ones"....still desolute, despondent, hopeless and suffering in the hands of other desperate peoples....such a pity. nameless, hopeless souls, all. the captives and captors. mostly rank and file on which ever side. let us all, in seriousness, pray for these poor souls. dwmte 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Mononoke28 says on Jul 7, 2008, 09:01: I saw that HBO documentary on Ingrid like four years ago and I'm glad they played on CNN because most Americans live in a shell and have no idea what happens outside their homes if it doesn't involve Britney Spears or Brangelina. Diana 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
