The old Buenaventura Road

14-17 March, my boyfriend and I want to go birdwatching on the Old Buenaventura Road, between Cali and Buenaventura. We asume this region has no safety-problems (guerilla, thieves on the road). But just to check, maybe someone who knows the area can give us some more information? We live in Ibagué, Tolima.

(By the way, the forests and the mountains around Ibagué are lovely and worth a visit.)

its a very nice route... i was there in december, we went from Mida Lindo to Buenaventura. I would say it is a safe trip, but thats to say because it was a group of 3 and we are all colombian. There were lots of police on the road thoughout. Very nice...we also stopped at los tubos if i recall correctly...i say go ahead!!

CALI / BUENAVENTURA RD If you travel this route and are not Colombian , 100 make sure that you take your passport , otherwise the will threaten to take you to jail and you will end uppaying him 100,000 peso's as I had to.

There are lots of Police on this road.
