the men there

I was often at El Rodadero in Santa Marta with friends and there were a lot of men and women who would make it a point to stare and never take their eyes off - kind of thing.
Mostly men. Almost as if they didn't like me, the way I looked and dressed. Or maybe they did, but I wouldn't know. I don't understand spanish, and you know how shameless those men are. They'll whistle when they want etc...

do they not like american girls? Especially the skinny ones? Almost as if being skinny is ugly. They like the "big" women?? I felt so uncomfortable.

what is it with men there? what are they after? What do they like and not like? Not that I'm gonna gain 20 lbs to impress them for when I go back. I'm fine being skinny me. but I'm just curious.

Is this where you were looking for sanitary supplies? I haven't been there in a few yrs, but I don't recall seeing alot of pharmacies there - mostly just tourist shops, retaurants and hotels...

It was a bad experience eating there in public. Eating only a salad is like "not normal" to everyone. The men serving me must know I have a problem. Do they even know about all the dieting american women do?

I imagine restaurant staff there are mostly accustomed to visitors who partake in the fresh seafood, so you may ahve been an exception to the norm.

I'm actually really really curious to hear feedback from Colombians on bodytype preference? I know everybody has their own personal tastes etc... and we shouldn't generalize BUT having said that I would have thought the opposite of what is posted above, that the men would prefer a slimmer more petite woman over someone more voluptuous or chubbier, considering that the majority of Colombian women that I've encountered are all trim and petite.
