Do you know an author or publisher? I did not find the title you mention with that spelling, but I did find a new book from the point of view of a Colombian woman "guerrillera" you might want to check out. Colombia has the world's most beautiful "guerrilleras". Here is the information about the book:

Vásquez Perdomo, María Eugenia
My life as a Colombian revolutionary : reflections of a former guerrillera.
(Philadelphia : Temple University Press, 2005)
xxxvi, 266 p., [10] p. of plates : ill. ; 24 cm.
Language: English
Series: Voices of Latin American life;
ISBN: 159213100X (cloth : alk. paper); 1592131018 (pbk. : alk. paper)

or maybe you were referring to this new book on Colombia?

Law in a lawless land : diary of a "limpieza" in Colombia by Michael T Taussig (Chicago : University of Chicago Press, 2005)

wow Sometimes I forget how much the guerillas have become a part of everyday life in Colombia. There are only 10 - 20,000 FARC (more or less), but their influence spreads everywhere in Colombia.

Platano, you speak like there is some kind of "most beautiful guerilla" pageant.

It's only death and misery

cdn, How much time have you spent with the guerrillas? I was a forced "guest" and got to spend 24 hours a day with them during my kidnapping. Trust me, it is not all death and misery. When you are alone, being guarded by a beautiful Colombian guerrillera (with a Colombian army issue rifle and 9mm browning) and you have time to talk about her children and her family and literature and salsa music and political ideals and you share jokes and she prepares you delicious fresh squeezed orange juice on orders from the comandante, it is anything but death and misery. 'Tis a beautiful kidnapping experience with people who are not "monsters". They are intelligent and sensitive Colombians and they are paid assassins, killing for a paycheck. Unfortunately I couldn't talk them out of that, anymore than I can convince others in the Colombian Army that they should not be hunting down the guerrillas and killing them. There is too much killing going on in my opinion but it seems this will continue as long as ignorance, revenge, hatred, etc. exists and is disguised using other words like "patriotic duty" or "glorious revolution" (i.e., you kill who they tell you to kill).

Over Blown Platano:

Spreading rumors again? That kind of statement will only make matters WORSE and next thing we'll have more "guests" not to mention the problem with booking flights. Colombia is very fragile, try to be realistic.

Guerilla Group – Choco Territory

Brownings are very expensive and I've never seen or even heard of one in the country. 9mm is a "pistol" or Sub-Machine gun caliber.

poco, "Brownings are very expensive"

Like money is a problem for people dealing drugs?

"I've never seen or even heard of one in the country"

Your experience on the ground with guerrillas is limited I would assume.

I know something can happen I have not been kidnapped, if that is what you mean. However it is not a problem for me to view the implements. ONLY the military has a few Browning’s.

Military:
FN-FAL battle rifles and AR-16’s, AR-16’s are common with special police.
Browning 50 cal machine guns mounted of 2-1/2 ton trucks

DAS
HK MP5’s, UZI

Guerillas:
AK-47’s and variants 7.62 x 39 plus "cheap" foreign rifles.

Pistols:
Ubiquitous: Czech 9mm

Shotguns:
Most common across total country, including security: Ithaca, 12GA model 37 pump and clones, some older Remingtons.

A few 40mm grenade launchers are in service with the Military and Special Police.

FARC has been known to buy weapons...legally... in 2nd-Amendment-loving Miami, USA. You can pick up a 9mm Browning pistol for $600. Peanuts! What I saw looked more like a USA Browing via Belgium. Click on the link and you will see what I saw in the hands of beautiful Colombian women guerrillas!

The role of the U.S. military:
Furnishing technology and hardware: Most overlooked is satellite photo intelligence. Try and find a detailed view of Colombia on internet. Haven’t looked lately,, maybe there is something (outside the major cities). Best might be high altitude reconnaissance with NO detail, maybe a river valley. I can find free photos of my home in U.S. that will show the car in the driveway. You can “buy” photos that will allow you to count the trees and bushes on a property. Think what can be done on the Military photos. Doubt many have seen the “best”. Bet you can identify individual coca and poppy plants.
Examples of Worldwide Satellite Photo Images
The Browning design has been copied worldwide. However, the colt 1911 model pistol, 45 cal. was standard issue in WW2 and probably scattered throughout the world.

The cartel has lots of money but as far as I can tell they do NOT waste it on high priced pistols and rifles for their “soldiers”. I would imagine the higher ranking members can have expensive “toys”.

The AK47 and derivates are, in my opinion, the best weapon ever made, bar none. At,,, 50 U.S. dollars (plus or minus) in quantities of say 100,000 and furnished by “other real close” countries it will the weapon to have, no matter how much money is spent.

poco, I will defer to your obvious expertise in weaponry and forget what I saw with my own eyes.

Besides, I have the Swedish girls now, and Stockholm is so nice!

Good I will defer to your obvious expertise in weaponry and forget what I saw with my own eyes.

You saw what you saw and it can be seen,, but like most things it will be a small percentage, statistically speaking, However there is SO much misinformation, mistakes and fabrications about this topic that at some point, when people who KNOW a stated fact to be outright erroneous then everything else they say immediately becomes suspicious.

BTW:
There will NEVER be another NEW automatic weapon in the private hands of a U.S. citizen and what is in private hands is REGISTERED with the BATF. This happened in 1986. Before that,I think 1932 ALL automatic weapons WERE required to be registered. Automatic weapon possession, transport, use etc. is a FELONY punishable by a fine of 250,000 U.S. dollars (maybe HIGHER now) and the vehicle (airplane, car etc.) is confiscated and SOLD at a treasury auction.

It would be NICE if I could by a 50 dollar AK in Colombia and maybe sell it for $10,000 U.S. dollars. Problem is,, it would ALWAYS be a felony to possess, can NEVER be registered, ie: JUNK in the U.S.
