THE INTERNET IN LATIN AMERICA, Colombia is the third-largest Internet market in Latin America.

Colombia is the third-largest Internet market in Latin America.

There are currently over 30 ISPs in Colombia. Does anyone know if AT&T is now running in Colombia?

"Another company that could easily get into the local IP market is the recently AT&T acquired Firstcom, a
former subsidiary of Telecom as Teleductos. The company has a good infrastructure in Bogotá and other
cities throughout the country."

Ahhh, ATT has always been there silently, because BellSouth owned a ton of stuff in Colombia, and even had Bellsouth offices all over the place.

Wow, I guess Colombia is doing much better now in this field.
Thanks to the competition now in Colombia is a snap to change from a loudsy Telephone,/Internet and Cable company to a cheaper company with better customer service and with a more reliable technology.

I remember living in Colombia in 2000, after having worked for Verio(NTT) the largest ISP in the states in the time, and having had DSL at home since 1997, and sitting on an OC-48 at the office.

Dialup forced me to get out the house and exercise and do more. I remember calling Emtelsa from my job to have an ISDN line installed and they brought the loop in, and the modem, and they had about six techs all scratching their heads, and I bumped em out the way, installed everything, and got it running. And for six months they would call me for help.

On the flip side I got 8 buildings and 120 nodes wired for fiber for about 6 grand.

Whatever happens, dont let Cable and Useless I mean Wireless into the game there. They are disastrous! But no matter, with so much competition apparently in Colombia now, they wouldnt survive anyway, so no worries mate........

Colombia should be the second largest market, considering its population

Colombia is the third-largest Internet market in Latin America. This is not difficult to work out,as it,s probably the second or third biggest population.Even a school kid could work it out.

Isn't Colombia the third largest economy in Latin America? Brazil, Mexico, then Colombia?

I guess the following wouldn't be a very sexy headline though: "Size of Colombia's Internet Market is in line with its GDP"

So now you have choice to pick up your ISP and there is no need to stay with a loudsy telephone/cable and internet service provider.
