The great apartment hunt...

Hi Folks,
Hoping I might get some suggestions about accomodation in Bogota. I'm moving there in September for approx a year from Canada, (job transfer) am 25, female, and looking for a place to live. I think it would be nice to share an apartment or house with others in a nice area. I will work near Chapinero and would like to find something close. My colleagues have suggested an Aparta-hotel, but that is extremely expensive, and will not allow me to easily meet new people. Any suggestions about how to start looking for rooms for rent or apartments to share? Also, is there another area close to my work (Chapinero) that would be better to live? I like the nightlife and going to the gym.
My concern comes from having lived in relative isolation in South Africa on a posting, and although I loved it, it would have been so much better if I'd have had housemates.
I'd appreciate any suggestions!
Katie

Chapinero
Good morning Katie, it is easy to go to Chapinero from nice neighbourhoods in Bogota, mostly are to the north of Bogota, with other at the occident. You will find good places to live in Chapinero since many people will rent just a room, and a working single woman is what most tenants required. (no kids, do pets)

About gyms there is a chain called bodytech. Although is not too cheap they offer several gyms in the country. In Bogota the got around six.

The one in Chapinero is on Calle 63 con 7ma.

Recommendations for living in Medellin. Hello everyone, I have been in Medellin several times, but mostly stayed with my wife's family (now divorced) and in hotels..But this time, I am going there to study spanish.

My first questions is: Does anyone know an institution that is good and can teach me Spanish?

Second: Where can I find a furnished, ready to rent apartment in Medellin, any specific places will be appreciated.

Third: Will the school be able to get me an extension in staying over 90 days?

New Apartment Hi Katie,
I´ve just moved to bogota and am about to move into an apartment in Chapinero Alto right near a gym and close to all the nightlife. I´m an english teacher here in bogota (although haven´t started yet) and am looking for someone to share this apartment with. Nice place, safe with two bedrooms and bathrooms. I´m half english, half colombian and know lots of people here. If you´re interested just put a post on this site and we´ll get in touch. here from you soon,

looking for apartment - short term Hi, I am looking for a place to stay for the months of October and November. I am originally from Bogota, but spent most of my life in the states. I am 25 and work as an engineer. I am in Bogota working and visiting family. would like to find a nice place either to share or independent for the short term - hopefully in chico or chapinero alto. i know it's tough for such a short time. any leads are appreciated. - Juan P
