Latin men are the biggest babies in the world. My grandmother was one of the first female supreme court magistrates in Colombia, and she would still iron my dads shirts.

I had 40 year old guy friends whos moms would bring them a caldo when they came home shitfaced.

I had to have a talk with her brother about dropping by our place at all hours of the night wanting a plate of food and a couch to crash on. Normally I do not mind that, but not three times a week.

My american mom is 60 years old, and a saint, and would wait on me hand on foot if I let her, but I do not.

My stepdaughter is now 15 and her brothers are 19 and 20. The oldest one is the worst. At least the younger guy will operate the microwave himself. The other day she was complaining about being a slave and I told her she was only one because she let herself be one. I also bought her a bicycle so she could get out of the house a bit and go into town and visit her girlfriends, go swimming in the river, go to the library, the store etc. That made her happy.

One cultural difference I don't think ill ever understand is the lack of wanting to move out of home.. get some space.. some freedom.. I can't imagine the thought of being 20 and having to sneak around and having to rely on the occasional visit to a motel or park..

As mentioned above its amazing how girls from these places are so surprised when you can actually cook them a decent dinner... and guess what.. that means they are already at your house..... BINGO!

I broke that habit with my wife and son. He now must clean his room, make the bed, do his OWN homework, pickup after himself. In other words he must be more self sufficient, contribute to helping others & himself and earn his allowance. I've told my wife in a few years he'll be doing his own laundry and learning to cook. He's 14 now and had no clue on how to care for himself. He was waited on hand and foot by his mother & grandmother.

He has a much better attitude and is more respectful to others now then when he first hit the states.

The last date I had with a typical Canadian guy...OH MY LORD!! He was so boring. Everything I said he agreed with, even when I disagreed with him he'd change his mind. What the.... How about a nice happy medium between chauvinist pig and completely whipped?

I recently spent time with my Colombian friend and it disgusted me that when his oldest daughter was around he turned in to a useless lazy ASS! I spoke up a few times and she assured me that she loved to tidy up and clean and get stuff for her Daddy. She seemed sincere.
Kat, I would have to agree with you that if she doesn't mind than leave it alone. His cousin was the same way, she came to my apartment and started mopping the floors, wanted to cook etc.... At first I was like... "score" don't have to do the floors today haha but it really made me uncomfortable after a while. "SIT THE HELL DOWN GIRL AND WATCH TV or go paint your nails or something" But she assured me, as well, that she really enjoyed doing that for me.

Here's my problem with this. They show their love and affection by taking care of the men in their life. Fine. It's sweet and I do the same for the people I love, family, friends, guests etc.... But people learn what they live and basically my theory is that a lot of men just expect their women to step in to that role because that's all they've ever known and how they've been raised. The girls are conditioned that it is what they're supposed to do in life and it shows their worth and love, regardless of the fact that these girls might work full time jobs as well as opposed to being the traditional stay at home women.

So what's my point. Oh forget it I'm babbling but I think you get the idea of where I'm going with this. LOL.

my wife makes sure my clothes are well kept and ironed, floors mopped, and the house tidy - the three things I have to do are the dishes (else they'd stay there for over a week), cook (well sometimes - we eat out mostly as it's just too cheap not to), and make sure the car is clean - we used to take it for a wash every 6 days but I decided that 10 mil and no car for 3 hours is too much so I do it myself until the inside gets too dirty.
