Mr. R. Oltam, the regional director of the Federation for Immigration Reform in USA has proposed an interesting solution to prevent illegal immigration in the “Unite to Fight Against Illegal Immigration Summit.” The clever idea of Mr. Oltam is militarized the Mexican boarder. Following the events in Spain after the “Asesinato in Villaverde” where a boy was killed by a Latin American gangster in Madrid, the retaliation of some Spaniards young men beating a Colombian journalist and the opinions of many Spaniards that consider Immigrants a real plague, and making comparisons with the arguments of FAIR, I find a lot of confidences: racists have not historical memory; they draw out simple social conclusions and they are really indifferent to what happens in the world, thinking just their country is up and alone in its power.
Surely there are plenty of arguments to answer to so easy and showy solutions to the problem of immigration. Surely every poor country around the world can do plenty reproaches to the rich countries of the earth. Just two for be synthetic: Spain was just a pair of decades a poor country as any Latin American one and many Spaniards where themselves migrants in foreign countries, especially those “Sudacas” countries they see now with so arrogant attitude. Maybe it happens that to be in the womb of EU has given so quickly proud sense of be a part of the “First World” so they are forgetting their own history? Are they forgetting the history of the genesis of Latin America so easy? And to FAIR: what can I say I, a Colombian, about facts as US soldiers selling “toys” to certain people in Colombia and enjoying immunity? Do I propose also to a Criollo FAIR so?
Please, the problem of immigrants is not solve in such way. It is a more complicated thing that needs a different treatment Mr. Oltam maybe is not analyzing.

utopiacowboy says on May 30, 2005, 12:18: People like Mr. Oltam are a plague. I would gladly trade him for an illegal Mexican coming north to find work. Personally I can't wait for the day when Latinos exercise their political power and send guys like him packing. Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
