The fire is threatening the northern barrios and hillside residential areas.
Incendios no dan tregua
"Una verdadera emergencia ambiental se vivió en la capital del Valle del Cauca luego de que el fuego arrasara amplias zonas de Golondrinas, Chipichape, Vía al Mar y Cristo Rey. Alerta."

Aren't you living in the area of grassfires on the hills?

Yes, I agree, I always thought it was a shame how the foothills were totally devoid of forest and painted with advertising.

Seen the same thing in Antioquia-people destroy the environment and then it turns around and bites them in the ass.

I was there on Aug 20 and my colleagues took me to Dapa ( a restaurant up them hills). On our way up a fire broke out on the right side of the road. We went to the restaurant any way but could see the fire down there. No fire crew came??? My Colombian banker colleague shrugged it off. I was scared as wild dry bush was all around and it was windy. However, after an hour or so the fire went out and we drove back.

Amazingly the next evening I wen to Kilometro 18, other side of Cali, it was all lush green. Cali is strange.
