The Cali Fair/Festival

Hola!

I will be arriving in Cali during the Cali Fair this year. Has anyone ever attended it?

Can you please tell me about it? What are the best things to do? Whats the average prices for things? Do I need to book tickets WAY ahead etc? Is it safe at all events? Do I need to know how to dance salsa before?

I am from Sydney, Australia but I will be coming from Argentina sometime that week. I will be in Cali for 2 weeks, where else should I go?

The Cali Fair takes place the first / second week of January of each year, therefore you either have the dates wrong (not in this year) or you´ll have to change your travel plans.
What to do? well, there´s the bullfight season, if you´re into that, there are horse parades, street parties, etc.
Do you need to know how to salsa? that depends, you may actually get some nice Cali girls to teach you

la feria de Cali begins on the 26th of December with the cabalgata and ends around the Reyes with the bulfights and popular concerts...at least it did, until last year. They may have come up with new dates, so please check them out.

Dates of the Feria Those were the dates that my friends also told me. So I am hoping the dates havent changed!! I arrive in Dec 27 for 2 weeks. So Im sure even if they change the dates I will see a few of the events still!!

the only thing you'll probably miss is the riders' parade, the cabalgata, through the streets of Cali. It usually starts in a fairly orderly fashion later to degenerate in tumult of drunken riders and suffering mounts not really knowing to which direction they should go.
Enjoy the feria, I wish I was going too! But I'm not envious of your good fortune, I've seen many of those already,
