The Battle for Summer Airfare has Begun..

Beginning June 15th.. Airfare is going to be a battle..Advise be patient and noticing again this year the agencies have many tickets discounted. Usually go direct during offseason and get good fares but noticing the agencies have the good fares..Funny just want to Copa direct and they want about 75.00 more than Expedia or Orbitz or costamar for the same damn flight. Copa explained during the summer it is a battle and many agencies have prepaid tickets or discounted heavily fares direct from the airlines for the summer which is the same for Christmas New Years week.. Already about to prepare to jump on 585.00 including taxes for Christmas Week thru an agency. Dec.21-Jan 1. This a MIA-MDE Fare..I have to mix and match for a weekend in June..already to get a 522.00 fare from MIACrazy usually only pay 400.00 including taxes..after complaining to American and they email me the 10% Discount code..but fly almost every two to three weeks down to Medellin..

Be patient and search for good fares just don't take the first one..for Summer time..like Captain Howdy he is all upset about the fare he took for the summer..

Peace Out..

PD YOU ARE SOOOO RIGHT!!! I've been doing a little preliminary research myself. All kinds of prices on the net, but too frequently when I "pick a flight" (just for fun) I get the "no longer available message." GRRRRRR.....

Anyway my route is NY - Cali. I priced early July depart (flexible) with a Sept 3 return (firm) with Delgado Travel (agency last wk.)and this is what I got: $532 AA and $862 Avianca. CRAZY DIFFERENCE. What is the deal with Avianca, do you think they'll bring their prices down? The best I have ever done for similar dates was $500 round trip (NY-Cali) on Continental - with a connecting flight in Houston.

My dilemma is that I had planned to send my 9 year old alone (unaccompanied minor) ahead of me, but that is only possible on a direct flight which would have to be Avianca. However, we would be returning together.

Also interested in getting my Christmas tix now, Dec 21 - Jan 6. You sound very savvy Panthdave, any more ideas you can share? Any thoughts will be much appreciated. THANKS!

Summer looks like Agencies will have the fares Airlines are thinking they are going to sell there seats at high prices which they might...for the summer after is school is out in the USA.. Orbitz-Expedia-Cheaptickets have the ability to mix you between airlines and MIA has more of a selection to play with.
Want to fly June 14th to June 17th...MIA-MDE Jose Cardova.
www.aa.com-Direct flight-660.70 Including taxes.
www.avianca.com/us Direct Flight-730.70 Including taxes.Non Direct thru Bogota-704.96 Including taxes
www.copaair.com-Non Direct thru Panama-650.00
Now
Orbitz-Expedia-Cheaptickets will mix you between airlines example
American to Bogota and then Avianca to Medellin coming back Aero Republica to Bogota and then American to MIA.. 522.00 Including taxes and some odd reason they have my Copa flight which I like with Copa all the way for 575.00 including tickets cheaper then Copa Direct.

All these prices will take effect middle of June..Agencies I think will have the prices..But I don't let airlines budge..
American emailed me a 10% Coupon for Memorial Day Weekend to bring my fair to 432.00 but this before June 15th hits..

I check American airfares for the month of June and they have about 8 different fare amounts for Economy for June that is crazy usually the three or four..

I do like taking risks too and play the waiting game but that is like playing roulette during busy season..offseason its perfect always we get the fare I want..
Not buying that 500.00 fare not just yet...I would like to get down to 450.00 for June..

no worry Kat. It's April and last weekend, it was freezing in the south (north america, of course). remember only about twenty years ago, they were forecasting the NEXT ICE AGE .... COMING TO YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD SOON? What will it be next? They are gonna start tellin you to cut down the trees, because they are adding to the heat...there goes the shade!

Who's gonna win? We are! Cause we're going to Colombia. come hail, sleet, rain, or snow.

y, un mil gracias.

Airfare is getting cheaper I've always flow frequent flier miles so cost is essentially free. However this will end someday unless I go back to work and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Anyway, a ticket with an extendable return date of up to a year would be worth extra money. Personally I wouldn't fly Avianca if there was a reasonable alternate.

Deregulation,, really bad wasn't it?

Continental Airfare Quote
To: CLO From: IAH (Cali / Houston) June 1 to Aug 31 = $604.00

You can trick around with the dates to find lower costs.

Expedia,, hummm $688 or MORE than a direct reservation. These prices always change. Nice to pay U.S.D. and not C.O.P.

Fares are changing every day now Damn 604.00 including taxes...Thank God I am in MIA
Just for some odd reason Copa has higher fares than The same flight on Expedia or Orbitz strange did not notice AA.com will give the best fare for the flights but they know I will not budge until I see my fare for June 14th.. In May going to hit American for another 10% discount code if I see the flights have many seats open..in late June..

In Medellin Abril 26 for the weekend and also already got my fare for Memorial Day weekend..GF is already edgey calling me its only been five days since I have been back in Miami for work...

Airline flights - Yes Thank God I am in MIA

However, most other items are comparatively quite expensive. Housing, taxes etc. I've always wondered why people live in a high cost area and the wages are the same or less?

Comparison using the CNN MONEY cost of living calculator.

If you move from Miami-Dade County FL to Houston TX...

If you lived in Houston:
Groceries will cost: 20.874% less
Housing will cost: 43.906% less
Utilities will cost: 7.571% more
Transportation will cost: 12.533% less
Healthcare will cost: 6.566% less

I guess you could add AIRLINE TICKETS cost MORE but what the heck, I buy more loaves of bread than I purchase airline tickets.

Nice, fresh, soft, squeezable and it costs a lot more in Colombia and what? Double in Miami?
