Thank Yous

I AM SO EXCITED THIS MORNING!!!! The Bogota Embassy updated the appointment schedule for September 2005 and we're on it for 9/27/2005.

I thought about posting this in the Visa Section, but some of the people I want to thank usually only hang out in the Friendly (Most of the Time) Talkzone.

Utopia Cowboy, when I was so down and out, so depressed and frustrated with the process, which did not go smoothly at all, thanks for always answering my questions thoroughly and promptly. NIAM, Crazy4Cali especially on the DS-156K issue. Platano, Juancegomez, WS244, Colombiche, Desi, BAQ, all you guys who have either helped me with Colombian culture or with the embassy, or my congresswoman's office or any of the nonsense I had to go through to get this appointment scheduled. I know I'm forgetting some people but MAN!!! I can't even express how happy I was to finally see our Case Number on the list.

I gotta plan my trip. Talk to you cats later!!!

What is this, an awards ceremony?

Actually it feels better than an awards ceremony. If you only knew what I went through. These people deserve to be thanked.

Felicitaciones It's a big step to finally see your appointment date! (if you haven't received the letter/packet-4 from the embassy already, that is). But it's one more piece of evidence that it's finally coming together after a long period of waiting with your fingers crossed, wondering where on earth your application is.

Good luck to your fiance at the interview and to you both when she arrives in the U.S.!

I would have to say that the process is one of the most stressful things you can experience. I know how you're feeling. Have a good trip and don't worry too much. If you have all your documents prepared and ready, you'll be fine.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

Thanks again to all who helped in my process, taught me a little more about Colombia/Colombians/Colombian ways of doing business.

Our visa was approved today and we're headed back to Los Angeles on Thursday morning.

I've only been here a week, but I've been made aware of some stuff. All kinds of stuff goes on in Bogota. Old gringos/young chicas, human sacrifice (not alleging that it's common or widespread, but it did happen), murder, scams, I mean just the full gamut. Although I was staying in a relatively nice area and partially busy with the visa issues, I did spend some time with some cachacos and learned a lot. That said, my biggest problem personally was the weather. Bogota has been cool, it's just you know.... it ain't Disneyland.

Thanks for letting us know how it went. I am very glad that it went smoothly and again I know just how you're feeling. Feels good, doesn't it?

Absolutely UTC. During the process, it feels like the future is up in the air because you don't know when you will be able to be together and begin to work together. Then also in the back of your mind there's the thought that maybe it will be denied altogether for some reason, putting you in the awkward position of not being able to close the physical distance. What would we do then? So it's just a big relief.
