Termales.... Santa Rosa or San Vicente

Okay... So, I'm a couple of weeks for my Colombia trip... And, I'm in the midst of excursion planning....

Since, I'll be in Pereira for the most part, going to los termales de Santa Rosa is a must... But, I've briefly heard mention of los termales de San Vicente....

I asked my mom, her cousin and my god-mother this weekend and they've never heard of it.... And really think I'm getting it confused, since I was in San Vicente Mexico a few weeks ago... I told them I wasn't losing my mind and that I've heard mention of the termales of San Vicente...

So, to help prove them wrong, I've started doing some internet research and I'm not finding too many details....

So, I turn to my wonderful cast of characters on PBH for Help...

Go to Santa Rosa, like we normally do... or go to San Vicente for the first time...Is it worth it?...

I went to the Termales At Santa Rosa as I did not have the time but they say San Vicente is awesome but not the easiest to get to. Here's a great link about Termales San Vicente and has all the information you will need

Termales de Santa Rosa are a must if you go to Pereira. I was there a couple of years ago and was one the hilites of my vacation. Termales San Vicente are also in the same general area in the Eje Cafetero, I don't think they're that far from Santa Rosa. I'll try to go there in my next visit. In any case - and I hope PBH lets me put this couple of links - check this out: http://www.sanvicente.com.co and don't forget to visit http://www.enpereira.com

Also the Lonely Planet guide to Colombia mentions both Termales Santa Rosa and San Vicente. The pictures of San Vicente on the link in EMAN's post look amazing. I'll probably be in the Eje Cafetero in October. I'm thinking San Vicente is worth an overnight stay...

i went to san vicente because I was told the ones in santa rosa were often crowded as not as nice...its a long drive and the second half of it is unpaved. I am not a huge fan of getting into public pools so i went for a mountain walk instead, that was cool...Have fun.

Hey, I thought this post didn't make it on yesterday.... I was having technical difficulties... That's why I put on another one this morning... I feel like a dork, 2 postings same topic... It's month-end!... Crazy time for me....

DC, I found that link later.... Can you believe it... Anyway, I think we're going to check out the Termales de San Vicente, there's a package that will provide transportation from Pereira to San Vicente, so that will kill 2 birds with one stone!... and thanks for the other link...

CK - Thanks for the info... I always go to the one's in Santa Rosa, and I'm more of a trekker, so going to the one's in San Vicente will be different... I hear there are mud baths there too.... Did you check those out?

Thans EMAN and Piloto for your feedback too...

yes I did, didnt get one either...its definitely nothing too glamorous so if your into that sort of stuff, dont expect much. Chances are youll go back home with muddy hair...it was fun overall. And well worth it if you have already been to Santa Rosa...

Hey msaucey! You lucky girl...
Listen I am confused, I have been to two different Termales...do they have different names?

One of them you had to pay at this little hutch and then walk up a kind of hill, I went in the evening and had the best time, the other one I went to was smaller and had a hotel just across from the termales.

Ooops I just read the above comments, but I am sure they were both in Santa Rosa..

Yeah, I know which one's you're talking about Mona... The Termales in Santa Rosa has 2, or used to have 2... One at the bottom, which was I think the original... and then they built the other one, which is the bigger one which has the hotel at the top.... I didn't like the original, it was a bit dingy... But, the other one is a cool place to relax... That's why I'm interested in the one's in San Vicente, it sounds like I can go for a quick hike and then come down and relax in the pools....

Mona -

There are actually 2 Termales in Santa Rosa. One is the PARUE BALNEARIO which is on the left hand side going up the curvey/rocky road from the town of Santa Rosa De Cabal. This has 3 pools but does not have the hot and cold water coming out of mountain like at the HOTEL. The hotel is a few minutes up the road and has the pool, bar, restaurant, and is very pretty. Below is the link for Hotel Termales and it will show pictures of both the Hotel and the PARQUE BALNEARIO. You can spend a the day or just a few hours at either of these facilities.

San Vicente is much more isolated and takes a little less than hour to get there from the town of Santa Rosa De Cabal.

Stumbled across this news item about a kidnapping of 2 students close to San Vicente ecotermales back in July 2006. http://www.fac.mil.co/?idcategoria=13196&PHPSESSID=201eceb43e0793ecdec... Is there still guerrilla presence in this area?

LA_MONA says on Oct 2, 2007, 11:43:

Ja ja Rubito...enjoy! But this is not the usual termales we were all talking about.
