Hi - I just interviewed for a position at the British International College in Barranquilla. It sounds like a great school with good people. I'm not sure about relocating to Colombia. At first I was nervous about safety issues, but your site has helped dispel some fears.
Can anyone tell me about Barranquilla and/or BIC? What are living conditions like? What is the cost of living?
Finally, I have visited China and Mexico and I couldn't eat raw vegetables. Can I eat them in Colombia? I was really craving a salad when I returned from China! :)
Thanks for your help!

Am also trying to find out how safe it is. When will you hear? Where in China did you teach? Have also applied there. roadrunner 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Desideria (Moderator) (Trustee board) says on Apr 16, 2004, 17:29: you'll be fine European Spanish and Colombian Spanish are entirely compatible. You will experience no difficulty in making yourself understood. The hard part is understanding Spanish when talked very fast or with a regional dialect, like on the Atlantic coast. It is a great school, strong principles, very strict... people are really good, extrovert(ed?).. maybe you'll find them a bit loud..
