Taxi fare from CTG to BAQ

In case the Invertours van doesn't show up on Thursday, I might end up in a taxi to BAQ. Does anyone have an idea what a taxi ride from CTG to BAQ costs?

Got an idea! Ask a taxista in Cartagena! Should be around $40 usd. Invertours most likely will show up as scheduled, and only a little late.

taxi to Barranquilla My wife is from Barranquilla and tells me in a good car with A/C it will cost you about 160.000 pesos. It will take about 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours. There is 3 toll gates to pass through. They will cost about $2.00 usd total.

Man, forget that noise There are buses leaving every hour from CTG to BAQ...big with A/C and movies.

Brasilia is the way to go...I've been doing it for 20 years.

Gracias I didn't know that the buses ran every hour. I've never been at the bus station here, but I believe that it is out near Turbaco.

I have grown to loathe taxi drivers in general. I carry plenty Vaseline when I'm cabbing. The CTG taxistas seem to be the lowest of the low. Even some of the guys that I see every morning outside my building have caused me to be thankful for the aforesaid Vaseline.

Some amigas regularly cab to Monteria. They pay 120K. Seems that Monteria is a lot further than BAQ.

TomTom You got La Costeña and Brasilia. There are even chivas that do this trip...cheap but it's no luxury ride and you have to stop along the way in places like Baranoa.

Forget this noise about a private cab...Go to the bus station and take a bus...very nice terminal. Relax. Personally, I'm uncomfortable with any cab driver for a trip of that length by myself.

otra cosa, tomtom Invertours will most likely be late because of all of the side trips they will make before they pick you up, and if you are on a timetable to get to Quilla, be prepared for more side trips. That can be bad and good. I used them from Curramba to Santa Marta in July and wound up getting a tour of some of Barranquilla that even Elmo would not visit, along with a lovely excursion through the back "streets" of Ciénaga...my kind of town.

Don't remember Last time which was at least 4-5 years ago was about $8 usd. Expensive for those that do it often but well worth the comfort.

I... like he The Pepster have not made the trip in three or fours years. It's only about 114 km so I would say no more than 10 USD and more likely 8 USD and even that might well be on the high side. Buses are EXCELLENT.

CTG Taxistas Sure those ladrones will try to charge the earth but you have to be firm and resolute.
When one asked for 20,000 for 2 short rides and a shorter wait I answered "mas como diez".
He snorted and took the money then kept hanging around for days trying to get more business.
He did get some some but never a nickel over the going rate and never ever a propina.
The money for the medecine he needed so badly never appeared either.
Or was the money for his Abuelita?(!)

Interesting That... what Sr. Soloman posted is not being reiterated more about Cartagena taxi drivers. The WORST ladrones in Colombia. They even rip off Colombians. No meters in Cartagena so ALWAYS get the price up front. Watch out for the airport trip-if you a running a little late they know you do not have time to put up a fight or if you give thewm 20.000 the :no tengo cambio" ploy come into play.. The last time, about two months ago, Mrs. Gator got so upset she threw $5.000, the agreed on fare not the 12.000 he asked for, in his face and went into the airport-best have your one carry one bag in hand before trying this.

Just got back Invertours showed up on schedule. They picked me up at my door and dropped me at my hotel in BAQ for 25K. I took the bus back to CTG for 10K. However, the taxi from my BAQ hotel to the terminal cost 20K and from the terminal in CTG to my place cost 14K.

Elmo's nephew did a great job of playing host although he could not find any burras. I liked BAQ very much.

I took a bus last week. It is really a charter service, it costs 15,000 pesos ($7.50 US) per person. I think it is called Caribe taxi or something like that. It was in an a/c van that seated 9 plus the driver. On the way to Cartagena we were in a lager bus type van that seated 15. They pick you up at your house and they drop you off at some sort of terminal area. If you want door to door it is 5,000 more. My cousins also take a cab sometimes, they call the cab company, don't pick them up off the street, and they set it up the cab will take 3 passengers and it costs 25,000 per person.
