FLY If money is not an Object then I would fly everywhere in Colombia , Remember as the Country is Basically covered in Mountain Ranges driving is time consuming.

Although Manizales is not that Far from Bogota , I assume a Taxi would be even more expensive then a then a Round trip Airfare which will run you $100-150(Round trip).

I noticed that when I was in Buenaventura Taxis were actually taking people in groups of 4 Back to Cali for $10per person , not bad for a couple of Hours drive.

Does anyone on here have any idea how much a Taxi would cost from Bogota to Manizales.?.

I Would Have No Problem With The Bus but the 8 hour trip is longgggggggg. Fly if you can less than an hour..

Check out my post on travelling from Bogota to Manizales by taxi.
If you want to see the scenery, then I would say it was worth it, for me it was absolutley amazing.
GIB is definately correct though, the roads aint exactly the safest ie. landslides onto the carriageways and crazy driving that could land you at the bottom of a cliff, and if your unlucky enough, a taxi like ours that broke down in the middle of nowhere (see my image gallery).
Although when i did this trip it was riddled with a few problems, I, strangely, still look back at it as one of my best days in Colombia, due to the fact that I got to see the scenery and that our taxi problems allowed me to see some of the smaller towns during this route. Although I have been known to carry a certain amount of luck , it doesnt mean that the same will happen for anyone else, I would advise to go on the side of caution and listen to the likes of GIB, if you do go for a taxi, get a known driver if possible and leave well early , we left around 5.00am.
Your calculations are maybe out slightly Spectrasport, we got our taxi for 50 GBP and at this time Dec/Jan a one way flight was coming in at 50 GBP.

I think safety and comfort wise, travelling on a good bus like Bolivariano is much better than a taxi.

Yeah litost, i was thinking the bus would be safer but for some reason my Colombian friends thought that the taxi would be safer for me, i dont know why.

Gracias amigos I called Avianca today and I am flying. I hate the car and I always need aspirin for my neck(moto accident). It is like 99.000 pesos $44 each way-very resonable. Again, thanks.Robb
