Tattoos

Can anyone recommend a reliable (ie, clean, sterilized needles) tattoo parlor in Bogota? I've wanted a new tat for a while now and am starting to get a bit impatient b/c I haven't done it yet. Any help would be grateful!

WAIT I would wait until you hit the States. I wouldn;t trust the sterile procedures here at all. I have 2 tats that were done in the States and never had any problems. HERE? COLD DAY IN HELL before I would let ANYONE ink me here.

Just an opinion.

There is a place, GOA in zona rosa very close to atlantis, the guy who runs it, Franz Nieto is probably one of the best piercing and tattoo professionals in latin america. You might wanna try it, and it is a completely sterile procedure.

YEA OK !!!!!!!!!!

Come on, give me a break. YOU KNOW HOW THINGS HERE ARE USED, RE-USED AND THEN USED AGAIN. That's just part of this culture.

You REALLY want to take a chance that some bone head is shooting strait with you in BOGOTA ????????????

i cant believe this utter shite any respectable looking tattoo parlor is safe in bogota,
why talk crap about re-using needles if you have no idea.
bogota has stricter regulations of hygeine than EE.UU.

Do you spread doom and gloom on every thread?

Do you really think that you can't get a tat in Bogota without risking your life?

I wouldn't get a tat in the states without watching them open a new sterilized needle. Quit assuming everybody is an idiot and a criminal. LOL !!! I'm starting to worry about you.

OK Just my opinion. That being said, many of my opinions comes from years of professional experience dealing with criminals, low lifes, thugs ect., so I can honestly say I have seen MORE than my share of how the streets work, the rip off artists, the lies, the con jobs, ect.

I guess I am just "Less trusting" than most. Many of my opinions are to give a thread some "Balance".

Everyone here is an adult and obviously can make up their own minds what they want to do.

Just look at many of my posts as "Playing devils advocate"

NOW ON A POSITIVE NOTE: The women here are wonderful !! jajaja

Balance it's not the other extreme of things BAQ. And making statements like:
"OK, SURE WOULD LOVE TO GET SOME HOOKERS BLOOD." Sure won't help your so-called cause...

You remind me a lot of GIB.

don't know squat about getting tattoos.... don't have any, so that immediately renders my thoughts/opinions for the most part negligible if not just plain avoidable.

however, i don't believe for one moment that hygiene in bogota or any other place is the same as the eeuu...come on. that's akin to saying that fish sold in the cartagena marketplace is as safe as that in albertsons, et al. however, that being said, i do believe that there are many consciencious artists in colombia who try to take all precautions in their art's procedures.

just doesn't make sense that they'ld want to poison their potentially returning clientele, now does it?

i've had surgery--internal--in colombia, and that in a very 'funky' clinic in lower (downtown) medellin. if i can survive that, where gunshots and knife wounds are the most common and tainted blood the order of the day...aids, syp, and God knows what else, i have no problem feeling that getting a 'skin change' is safe.

just look at all the telenovelas and the singers and actors on tv, many have tats and none appear to be dying or crying 'wolf'.

so, friend, go for it, cover your whole bod, it's yours, enjoy it.

Lauthra I don;t have a "Cause". I was just giving an opinion. If you don;t agree with it fine, but are you saying that there is a 100% chance I am wrong?

I have nothing against tattoos, have a few, think they are great but as far as trusting some "Artist" in Colombia, not me.

"Heavily regulated" in Bogota??? How about "Enforced"??? Enforced like they do their traffic laws, their gambeling machines, prostitution, illegal electric lines ect.

I am looking at the big picture, the history of this country as far as enforcement of their laws and regulations, pay offs when someone is caught not following the laws/regulations. When you consider the big picture and you are talking about something that involves possible cross contamination, I just don;t see the need in taking the risk. Wait till you return to the States for vacation and get it done in the U.S.

AGAIN, JUST AN OPINION

I dont have any tattoos myself but I used to hang out with a lot of these guys when I was still young and beautiful hahaha, I have seen it many many times, when they did it on friends and stuff. BAQ, I don't know where is it that you hang out at when you are in Colombia and I agree with you on many of your views; yes, getting a clean needle is a must and sure there are places in which people are going to be put in some kind of danger. But thats the difference between going to a professional, and going to an "artist"...The fact that Colombia is a third world country doesn't mean finding aseptic conditions is impossible. I would love to show you clean places, and maybe you shouldnt have to resort to assuming rather extreme positions. I wouldnt have a tattoo done anywhere on my body, because I am not into it, but I am absolutely sure you are likely to find both VERY clean and sterile places as much as crackhouses with a "tattoo" sign on the door in the US, in Colombia and anywhere else in the world.

Cheers Lauthra Glad to know you pay attention to my threads! I AM Canadian! :-) BAQ I understand your views about the cleanliness of some places and how it probably would be a stupid idea to head to some of those shops, however, in every country there will always be at LEAST 1 or 2 'clean' places. I just left Ethiopia after teaching there for a year and you wouldn't believe how many people have asked me if there are roads in Ethiopia. Yeah, and get this, they have restaurants too!!! And CLEAN ones!!! God, the ignorance of some people!!!

Anyway, cheers for the info from some of you about the good places to head to in Bogota. I hope to design my tattoo sometime very soon and hope to have it done in the very near future!

So people who study and open a legal business in order to offer tattoes and piercing services should quit their ways of making a living, and people wanting to have a tatoo or any kind of piercing should go abroad because doing it in Colombia would be like suicide.

Here are some business who offer tatoes and piercing. I don´t know any of them but if I want any I would definaly go and get it done right here in Bogotá or any city in Colombia for that matter.

You're welcome Camille ;) I just hate it when people assume you are from the U.S. or live there just cos you're typing in English. Even I have been mistaken for a U.S. citizen... Sheesh

I have a tatto that was done in Cali and when I had it done the bloke opened up the needle package right in front of me and when he finished he broke it. Just make sure they do the same with you ;)

Nato, a butterfly happens to Nato, butterflies happen to be my favorite insects. As a naked little boy, I used to chase the little yellow ones with black stripes down by el rio buritaca. I gently shove them inside an aguila bottle and later released them. They came out a little drunk but unharmed. I’ll pay anything to see and caress your butterfly in person.

I'll get there, when I get there!

Nato, I think a butterfly is a splendid tattoo, not only because is beautiful like you but most important it represents the ultimate sign of freedom and happiness. At the age of 3 or 4, when I was not chasing them, I used to sit under a tree by a river in the northern Caribbean coast and watch and study them for hours, how they really had no foreseen direction to their very short life. The way they fly is equal to a 3 year old child skipping along with no worries in the world, no real direction as to where they’re going; no mother no father to guide them. A bird flies in a straight line from point a to point b, so does every other creature on earth, but NOT a butterfly, he travels with the wind and where he lands that was his home, if not for a very short stay. He knew that soon his life will come to an end but did that depress him? NOT! he went on his merry way skipping from flower to flower making every second count. The following day he’ll be floating dead on top of the river getting carried away with the tide until a fish comes along and swallows his dead ass.
In my youth, I lived like a butterfly, I made love to every flower (girl) I saw and after I had my fill skipped away. Now that I’m an old ugly modefoque I no longer get freebies so I pay for all my flowers.

I'll get there, when I get there!

Very nice elmo. Lauthra, for some reason I'm not able to view the pics in your profile but the guys here sure do seem to like you! Anyway, I already have a tattoo (Chinese symbols that stand for 'live for today' on the lower part of my left hip) and the new one I want to get will be a picture of the world with an airplane flying around it (obviously due to my love of travel - been to 42 countries so far). Hope to get it done soon, possibly at a place on 82. I've heard from a few people that the place is really good!
