well done son. as oldbongo has always said, ...do it right.

la commandante arrived here from cartagena in winter
and had to suffer freeze shock. and thats' in the very
warmest part. now after 2 and a half years, guess what,
it's still sweaters in the summer, and higher heating bills,
and life in canada compared to the barrio is as quiet as a funeral.
but, she kinda likes it here, in paradise, and thinks of the future, whereas in colombia, she can only think of the present dilemma.
just tell your wife to expect that everything will be different,
and, not to worry too much, you will take care of her to begin, and she will prosper. at least you get to come home to good weather.

Now Jinksmeister, you're not following the party line. No Colombian could possibly be happy in Canada - that is offical PBSH dogma and you as a PBSH member are expected to abide by what the party says. Everything that they have in Canada they have in Colombia but bigger and better (geez they sound like frigging Texans). And don't even think about having children in Canada because gringo children are little devils but Colombian children are good and pure and wholesome.

I am pretty sure I am like a lot of the guys here, who are just shaking their heads. For whatever it is worth, please read posts and past threads on this site for a few days. There are so many things you are naive / ignorant about, based on what you wrote; I don't know where to begin. And I mean that with all due respect ... not a put-down. I have a feeling you may wonder what I mean by "ignorant." I will type one example ... you do the rest of the work. #1: You state you are not going to Bogota but will check with the embassy. Ok, but how can you do that without being in Bogota? That's where the embassy is. But it is all moot, because you have to go through a K1 visa process to get her here, and that doesn't start at the embassy - it ends there. But, you have to have visited her within the past 2 years before you file the application .... and I could go on and on and on. Please, spend lots of time on this site just absorbing info. Give it a couple of weeks actually, an hour or two a day. That's my advice / 2 cents worth.

Dalharrma1, Consider this in your rush To Marry,,, If you marry and bring the 9 year old Son to the USA,you are obligated to maintain the Son Financially for 10 years and the New Wife for 5 years by the Affadavit of Support(federal immigration) you sign prior to marrying her. Think about a Prenuptial Agreement in English and Spanish(officially translated to english btw)prior to marrying. Don't know if I would stay at the Del Prado first time I would be meeting this Lady as when she sees you shelling out the Bucks for a stay there, you may give her the Idea you are loaded to the Hilt with US Greenbacks,,,Why not stay 2-3 blocks down the street at the Hotel Sema(believe thats how its spelled)its a decent Safe budget hotel and it won't give her the idea you are a Daddy Warbucks with lots of $$$. Take her for a daytrip out to Puerto Colombia(close to barranquilla) and see how the real Coastal Colombians live; nice Pier to walk out on and spend the day at then grab a nice Fish Dinner out of a Straw Hut Typical Beach Restaurant. Infamous PBH poster Elmo Tomorrow will surely give you some Sage Advice as he is a Dyed in the Wool Barranquilla Corroncho who knows the "score" in the city you will be visiting. no lawyer I did not use a lawyer.I think having everything in the file they need made a differance.I sent out letters to immigration(Minister) trying to speed it up(telling them a year to get my wife to Canada is b/s.
Sent a letter to the premier of Alberta as well and evertime i was here in BQ to see my wife i sent a letter to the embassy in Bogota (email)asking them to add the letter to our file and asking if there was anything they needed to please contact me and asking for there help. Total time frame was about 8 months. I was married in BQ aug 5/06 and sent the sponsorship and PR visa app out aug 20/06.It took about 7 weeks to have the sponsorship approved and the PR app was in Bogota on oct25/06.Immigraton did not require an interview, however we had tons of proof of our relationship going back two years.I don,t think an attorney would have made a difference as apps are processed in the order recieved.I think an attorney would have added months to the processing time sending documents back and forth.

arkansas dude dude, you don't know shit. first of all, forget getting a Fiancee Visa by October if you're not even going to arrive in Colombia for a few months.

it takes at least 6 months to obtain. and you need to have met in person before you can file.

maybe she can get a tourist Visa to visit you, but I doubt it...possible, but not likely.

also, this is not a great site for Visa info...try

http://visajourney.com/forums/index.php?act=home

also, while there is nothing wrong with using an introduction service, there is also nothing wrong with looking on your own.

I looked the site over, it seems like your typical introduction service, no better or worse than the others.

In my opinion, you will spend over 10K in multiple trip costs, agency fees and Visa fees and other expenses before your get your Fiancee to the US. and the entire process will probably take at least a year.

I believe this to be typical time and cost frame for bringing a Colombiana to the US.

I would concentrate on just enjoying your trip to Colombia and let whatever happens, happen.

in the meantime, keep reading and learning about the Visa process.

and I hope like hell you speak at least some spanish...if not, start learning now.

and, I haven't even addressed whether you are a fat bastard or simple.

if so, do not give up hope...these handicaps can be overcome with work.

Avoid every other province in Canada but you must, at the very least, come visit Vancouver! Colombia's Independence Day is celebrated here and it's getting bigger every year :p

I will go out of my way to keep her happy and if she wants arepas and mangos in january i,ll buy them regardless of the price.
She does not know it,but when she gets to my place in Canada manny of my family will be there to meet her.Im having the house decorated with flowers and banners weloming her to Canada and into my family.
Im now looking into mabee trying to bringing one of her sisters over to canada on a temporary work visa for 6 months or a year...but bieng her sister now has family (my wife and me) in Canada, not sure if it will fly with immigration... I would also be her employer...it will be interesting to see what they say..i,ll post it when i get an answer

I know plenty of Real Colombians living outside of Colombia. I drank with them last night!

I will however say that a Colombiana with kids, putting herself on the web and entertaining emails from men who don't speak her language and live thousands of miles away, Colombianas who will endure a year long visa proccess and marry a man she's met twice - a man she never would even consider dating if she had a decent job and no kids, is not my type. But I'm picky like that.

But saying they are not real Colombians is assinine. You're talking about your wife too UTC!

Oh and by the way, just because your wives aren't my type it's no reason to feel insulted or insult others or feel they are not Colombianas. I also don't care for breast implants - and I need to be able to have an in depth conversation with a woman who has a brain, not just tits and ass - like I said, I'm picky.

Isn't Colombiche living in Canada for years? She's 100% Paisa pues. Except for her weight(400 lbs she says?) she's my type - if you understand what I've written. I've written it before and it's searchable here.

I’ve been asked a number of times my thoughts regarding the cultural shock facing a Barranquillera when leaving home. Let me first tell you that Barranquilleros are like no other people in Colombia.
Our brothers and sisters from the interior adapt a lot sooner to new surroundings , in most cases they are dying to get the fok outta their cities, but for most barranquilleras leaving home is unthinkable and if they have to , there’s a good chance you gonna have one very depressed ANGRY broad on your hands. You don’t wanna be around a pissed off barranquillera.
Look at my sorry ass, more than 40 years living in the most exciting diversed city , second to none, in the world, yet not a minute goes by with out me wishing I was back home.
I posted this video before,
This time I’m asking you to study it very carefully, look closely at the faces of those extremely happy, overjoyed , delighted, jubilant, ecstatic proud barranquilleras, they adore, worship their music, their people, their lifestyle. No other Colombians display such intense joy for life, and for their culture.
You take a barranquillera away from there and place her in a quiet , gloomy, cold, cloudy place and is like removing the cheese from a cheese enchilada, all you have left is an empty hollow shell, death soon follows and is not her who’s gonna die, guess who?
Now if you’re taking her happy fine currambera ass to a comfy home in Miami, then she’ll love you long fokin time.

Our relationship did,nt just happen overnight, ive been traveling back and forth (12 trips
at an average of 4 to 6 weeks each time)for the last two and half years.I met a lot of beautiful ladys down here but im with her because she has a beautiful heart...guess what U.T.C. Im Canadian and proud of that fact.Every country in the world has its pro,s and cons.
Some of the pro,s of Canada are a lot of natural beauty, thousands of unspoiled lakes...manny seldom or never fished in.Tremendous opportunitys for employment in Alberta..(I have a journeymans ticket in the trades and don,t even have to leave my house to find work...they call me).Basically zero unemployment in Alberta and a great standard of living(i know people who are easily pulling in 100 to 150 thou a year as trademan.
Id say one of the cons for the U.S. IS JORGE BUTCH.
opps.. sorry i got that confused with the name a guy i know here in BQ gave his jackass.
Anyhow ,my point is that anyone who thinks that Canada is just snow and ice is uneducated. There is a lot more to it than that.
Our plans are to buy a place down here in Colombia as well as keep my home in Canada.Live in Canada in the nicer months and Colombia the rest of the year.I,ll one day sell my business, and if i still choose to work ill work the oil patch in alberta part time. For now though the name of the game is capital appreciation.Im fortunate to have my business at present as even if im not there its still producing an income. The down side is i can only be away for just so long and i have to return. All in all i think the future looks pretty bright.

talking of adapting to living in a new country... PIGLET BANNED IN ENGLAND :-)

Muslims win toy pigs ban

NOVELTY pig calendars and toys have been banned from a council office — in case they offend Muslim staff.

Workers in the benefits department at Dudley Council, West Midlands, were told to remove or cover up all pig-related items, including toys, porcelain figures, calendars and even a tissue box featuring Winnie the Pooh and Piglet.

Bosses acted after a Muslim complained about pig-shaped stress relievers delivered to the council in the run-up to the Islamic festival of Ramadan.

Muslims are barred from eating pork in the Koran and consider pigs unclean.

Councillor Mahbubur Rahman, a practising Muslim, backed the ban. He said: “It’s a tolerance of people’s beliefs.”

It's cold as hell up here, people are stiff but this city is packed with Indians, Somalians, Chinese, Arabs etc etc. The other day I was at the supermarket on Jane and Wilson, I counted about 100 people and I was the closest thing to a caucasian in the place (and I am off-white).

Not as high a percentage of spics as NYC, but I have at least 4 different colombian bakeries in my hood, I don't think anybody in London can make that claim.

Now, I would NOT live anywhere else in Canada but Toronto. Anywhere north of toronto I would shrivel up and die. MTL is very hip, but too bloody cold, Quebec is picturesque but that is about it. Calgary, Edmonton, not my cup of tea. Moose Jaw, Petawawa, please shoot me!

Guys, please don’t get upset, but I remember my high school teacher Mr. Hudson telling us that Canada was a United States national park. This was back in the late 60’s Haaren High on 59th and 10th ave Manhattan.
Please keep in mind, I was just a very naïve injun kid from La Guajira.

You guys have to remember that Jinksmeister is a fellow Canadian and he knew perfectly well that I was just wanking him. Good to see you enjoying life, dude! I bet you and the old lady will have a lot of fun together in the Great White North. Take off, eh.

What ever happened to Daver ??? live in Colombia so you can get the real thing.

He'd given up life in Canada and moved to Medellin. I've wondered if he went back or "adjusted".
