taking a white powder to colombia

Hey Guys and Gals,
i am going to Bogota next week and I have a question directed to those in the know. I take creatine a fine white powder that helps me with my sports and work outs. It is a white powder that could look exactly like another white powder. I am not taking the package b/c it is huge. Should I not take it? Or will they understand that I am a vain american and need my creatine so I can have massive biceps? Thanks. P.S. I am not really that vain.

I'm sure you can buy creatine in Bogota. Why set yourself up for confusion?

I've done it several times Exactly that, creatine in double freezer bags. I've taken 2-3 kgs on a trip as well as tons (TONS) of vitamins. They even looked once and just shrugged. Just take your sharpie and write on the outside "vitaminas" and you'll be fine.

I can't imagine they (Colombian DAS) are looking for drugs ENTERING the country. But, like said above, why chance the potential drama? Are you staying for a long time? Surely you can live without the juice for a week or 2 or 3. If you have to have it, just put it in a container that would look like something that should hold powder. Like a large bottle of GNC Megaman supplements or something. I am sure it's available there also, like a poster said above.

what more needs to be said? Go to this company called Unicity.com and get their creatine; it's already packaged.... in foil about the size of a pack of coolaid, and so... it will say on each pack: CREATINE. This particular one is effervescent. And, it's good. (I took a pack and had to do a term paper; couldn't get my head through the door afterwards). You'll love it.

You can go to a site: www.wealthyheart.com
Order it there. It will be there in a few days. That company is even DOING BUSINESS IN COLOMBIA, however limited the products are available to that particular country.

I am (also) a distributor for that company, as you could be, and that is how I TAX-DEDUCT EVERY TRIP I TAKE TO COLOMBIA.
For me... it works. It pays.

i have brought glutamine several times, but for you see if you can buy smaller containers that are unopened and labeled, which are available but a little costlier...it is available in Colombia, btw, you just need to search for it....most of the larger gyms have their shops who stock up on stuff..(ie, Angeles gym in south Cali.....worth it to stay out of trouble....my luggage has been searched upon entry, but if you can learn enough spanish to explain what it is, then you should be ok.....but, either way, sign over a power of attorney to me just in case.....jajaja...

Just my opinion...

I've been powerlifting for years. I'm sure creatinine is safe, but less sure it does much in the long run except add water weight. You could do without it for a few weeks. Just my opinion.

Not persuaded, eh? You can buy it in Colombia, as said. I've personally never had my bags searched going into the country. Chemically, cocaine and creatinine are so different it's hard to imagine mistaking the two. Can't you buy a smaller "travel size" bottle of creatinine in the States, or Fz's Kool-Aid pouches?

Like my amiga in the states (de Pasto) told me, before I went the first time: "Jus go to the airport in your bathrobe; you likely won't need any other clothes! :)

I wouldn't worry about it. Creatine has no odor unlike the other substance you should worry about. Although since it is cheap I would leave it in Columbia when you leave to avoid the hassle.

You might be surprised How many drugs get busted going IN to Colombia.

I think there's a two-way trade between European Ecstacy and Colombian Cocaine, product for product, and occassionally a shipment of E gets popped. And, of course, there are all the people smuggling vast quantities of US currency back into CO.

Recently I've noticed several unusual posts. One person said he could practically pay for his plane ticket by taking currency other than peso INTO colombia vrs. ATM / Wiring using their exchange rates ???

My opinions, formed many years ago was that the official exhange rate to convert hard currency dollars into pesos was LESS, maybe 10% less than ATM's because NO ONE wants dollars. 20+ years ago it was maybe 40% less.

Why take even one dollar into Colombia?

Poco Correct.. You do better with the ATM then the change houses in Colombia they have too much overhead with regulation and give horrible rates..

DAS is looking for large amounts of money to come in and buy drugs

Now In Peru I would bring Cash...get better rates on the street but that might of changed because the dollar is so weak..Depends on the demand for dollars..

Peru might be worth checking out.

Venzeuala is BEST. Chavez has an artificial exchange rate on the currency. I'd say you can get about 40% MORE for your dollar if you exchange on the shops or steet.

The first time I saw the effect was 1976 in Egypt. Get a quote from a shop for $40 U.S.D. at the "official rate", then lay a $20 dollar bill on the table and the money disappeared as if by magic.

I remember that "tourist" visas were issued at the airport. Cost: Cheap, just exchange $300 U.S.D. at the window and they'd give you what looked like Monopoly money (only bigger). I was impressed with the stack of Money on the table behind the window. It was HUGE.

Oh,, I'd worry more about the U.S. than Colombia when it comes to white powder. Colombia has methods to check contents (if they find something).

There quite a few drug sniffing dogs at the airports. I'd bet this one would make a good recruit.

A friend of mine had me bring a couple of emeralds to his family in the states when I finished up my vacation. It was in my newbie colombia days. I didn't think it was illegal, maybe it wasn't. Either way, the security took me into a stairwell and demanded cash, which I didn't think I had (another friend gave me $300 to bring to his daughter which I had forgot about). When I told them I had none, they cuffed me and then put a nice big bag of white powder into my bag, then asked if I had money. I was about to say "no" again, because I realyy didn't think I had any, when one of the security guards found it. They quickly uncuffed me, took out their bag and that's when the airline rep came in and asked if there was a problem. We all said "no".
