Tailor in Bogotá

Here is the address of the tailor I used in Bogotá. I am sure you can find a cheaper one but you will not find a better one (IMHO). All of the suits and blazers he makes are all hand stitched. The quality you would see in a hand made suit from Italy. Right next to and across from his shop are number of places where you can have custom made shirts done with your own logos. Here is the name and address of his shop:

PANOORAMA CREDITORS Englsh Style
LOS MAS BELLOS PANOS
EN EL MEJOR ALMACEN DE BOGOTA
PANOS SUPER 100 Y 120 CON TEFLON
Cra 9a No. 13-47 Tels: 243-5194 and 283-1475
Barrio Ricaurte
email: sidneydel at andinet.com
Bogotá D.C.

His shop is about a 15 minute walk away from the garmet district. I had some slacks made by a tailor in the garmet district really cheap. The quality was not there. I needed to have them done again with better thread and better cut. I think it is worth it to pay a bit more for a good tailor and have it done right the first time. You will have to go for at least two fittings with this guy. He is very professional and want to please his customers.

If you get shirts made across the the street from this place they will measure you and you can pick your own style cuffs and collar etc., and they will deliver the shirt to your door or hotel free of charge.

So . . how much does he charge for a decent three-button suit - - made from decent quality wool or wool blends?

I think I paid a total of $300 USD. It all depends on the material you pick out. Mine happened to the best Enlgish silk and cashmere I could find. If you go to the garmet district there are all kinds of different materials to chose from. Like I said before you can get things cheaper there but you roll the dice.

.. sounds great . . . $300 covered the silk/cashmere and the tailoring? . . . that's a nice price . . . just curious, what style of suits does he cut? I abandoned all my Brooks Bros' years ago to build a Hugo Boss/Zegna/Paul Hill wardrobe . . .

Well I am not sure of the style. All I know is that the suit is very fashionable. I imagine he can make any style of suit for you. The lining of the jackets looks really posh with nice silk lining and hand stitched. I have to be honest with you. I am not exactly sure of the exact cost. It could have been a little more. Again, it really depends on the kind of fabric you use. There is so much to chose from in Bogotá. Same as the shirts. They have cotton from all over the world. I enjoyed going into the shops and picking out the exact fabric I wanted. I had 3 sport coats made too along with numerous slacks. If you are really into name brands you can always buy Hugo Boss labels for your suits............They can reproduce anything here...

LOL . . true about the Boss labels . . . the label isn't so important - - it's the style of suit, kind of "American Banker" vs. "European Media Exec." Thanks - - I'll pay him a visit on my next trip to Bogota . . .
