Taca airlines

A friend of mine just flew into Miami with Taca airlines. They lost one of her suitcases. It has been a week now and she has gotten nowhere with them. Just wondering what experiences anyone here has had with this airline

TACA Is... the pits. After three bad experiences, involving luggage and mechanical problems and missed connections, we avoid TACA like the plague what Mrs. Gator affectionately calls, "La línea aérea de muerte."

Our personal preferences are Avianca and COPA

One of The Only Airlines Worse is ;;; Avianca!!!!!! Ding Ding Ding! They are famous for losing Suitcases as well LOL! And Late on Losing them at that! Nothing more aganonizing then to arrive LATE at MIA then only to find out your Luggage is missing in action. LOL

Never Had... a problem on Avianca, except a couple of late starts, and we fly that a LOT. Guess it just depends on the circumstances. Of course the American flight we usually flew to Cali from Miami did manage to fly into a mountain about 75 km from the Cali airport killing all on board.

Gator, My friends and myself have ALL had incidences with Avianca EACH time we flew them over the last 6-7 years. Every time, Not just once,,,,ranging from leaving late, lost luggage, overbooking and getting bumped(especially on returns from Colombia). The ONLY constant was that something went wrong and they never left on time.,,,LMAO. I think if they did something right I would have a Coronary, I refuse to put up with the constant aggrevation of Avianca and if they offered me a free flight I would pass on it; I quit flying them 4 years ago ,,,

What happens If they can`t find your luggage? Do you get compensated in any way?

Greg in my Case(last one) when Avianca lost mine, they schellped it into Miami 3 days later, no explanations, courtesy call, nada. They went thru all my stuff, dirty clothing, ect. The Good stuff, camera, watch ect was in my carry-on bag. I never pack anything into my check-in luggage I wouldn't feel comfortable losing,,They always come up with a 100 reasons why they can't reimburse you for lost luggage, then they depreciate everything ect. Its a ripoff!

Avianca See my thread "Screwed by Avianca-Again." While they never lost a bag, they are rarely on time except for domestic flights. Their customer service sucks. When I tried to book a frequent flier trip, they told me I had to go to New York or Miami to pick up my tickets. My US home is in the upper midwest.

If I had any other choice MIA-CTG direct, I would take it.
