Surprised

Hey,
I must admit I was shocked by the comments. I had no idea so many people read these articles. First, thanks for all the suggestions. I do have common since, life is life no matter where you live. Like I stated in my first article, I am from Phila. watching your back and who you trust is a natural instinct.
I live in Pamplona Norte de Santander. Its a very small town with a huge college population. I have been in Colombia for about a year and a half. In Pamplona since Jan. This week, the festivals are coming. They tell me its a really great time. Pamplona is about 40 minutes from Cucuta. Before living in Pamplona, we lived in Manizales. Manizales is a big city with lots and lots of hills. You do not need to exercise there, just walk around town, its all you need to do.
To date, things are excellent. I teach 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 9th Graders English. If all goes well, I will be teaching at the University next semester. Thanks again for all the comments, and if you have any questions about anything, please ask. People here welcomed me with open arms. Colombia is finally starting to realize how important English and Americans are to their future.

Yes, just like the US is finally starting to realize how important Spanish is to theirs.

I wish Colombians would continue to ignore anything connected with gringos.

it's good to hear good things about Colombia.........speciallay coming from a foreigner

when you're outside of Colombia you get mad of all the sh't that people say about us.

Pamplona is great....You should visit Bucaramanga, it's a really nice city, and it's not that far.

Yep, especially when these people have never even been here. Most of them can't even locate us on a world map.

Philly, I appreciate your positive comments about Colombia!
Colombians are always happy to welcome visitors who go there to learn about Colombia, they also love to welcome those who go there to help in a particular field or career.
Unfortunately there are some foreigners who visit Colombia but they do not care to learn anything about the country before going there. They travel to Colombia with the only knowledge they gathered from websites that are supposed teach us about Colombia.

Bienvenido a Colombia!

Can anyone recommend a Colombia tour book? I did a search and found only one book in print - by Lonely Planet. The reviews were quite poor.
