Stylish in Bogota/Cartagena , need advice!

Going to Colombia next week to stay w/ BF's family. I consider myself a well dressed Americana but I want to make sure to look good on vaca..sounds like bogota I can do jeans, light sweaters, trendy tops? Pretty much like here?
What to I wear at night in Cartagena? Are jeans ok? and what about New Year's Eve? Do girls do jeans/sexy tops/and high shoes at night there? My BF says dresses but I feel like he is clueless.
Thanks in advance for tips!

Dresses are fine but People wear jeans and nice tops. Most people are into getting really dress up for the Holidays.

Actually I did not see much dresses in Bogota. I have been there several times and it is very rare to see ladies in dresses. Same applies to Cali and Medellin. In Bogota it seems to be to cold as well.

This is what I have seen. In Medellin I saw a couple of mini skirts during Christmas, but slacks and jeans seem to be the norm.
