E-Man says on Sep 10, 2008, 09:26: In Cali, generally, the majority of the guys wear blue jeans, casual shoes or gym shoes

Monita Linda says on Sep 10, 2008, 10:33: yes, the guys wear that type of shoes, but 95% of the guys wear fake brand shoes. Poor but Preppy ______Colombia: the only risk is wanting to lay. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

El Polo says on Sep 10, 2008, 10:47: I guess it really doesnt matter, just as long as there is a logo on it, or preferably ALL OVER the shirt or t-shirt, the trick is to buy clothes when out of season. For example, Cartagena is always HOT, therefore I usually buy my clothes online in the winter, when its cheaper. I given out PLENTY of Old Navy clothes, which I found on clearance as gifts, and everyone thinks im the MAN. jeje

Monita Linda says on Sep 10, 2008, 10:56: People love brands... and here in Cali even the fake ones can be expensive.. so I buy them online on the clearance, generally 10,000-20,000 a piece, brand name, from the states (so its not counterfeit) and I love it. Monita Linda says on Sep 10, 2008, 11:15: I have several old navy tops, and I really like them even though the quality is not what you would expect from a brand. I don't buy for others (presents) online. Poor but Preppy ______Colombia: the only risk is wanting to lay. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Mononoke28 says on Sep 10, 2008, 13:16: The one difference I've seen is that the it's pretty common to see "worn" out clothes here in the States, like baseball caps and cargo pants with that worn out look. I didn't see this in Colombia and even my family said it was pretty ugly to wear clothes like that. I think it's pretty cool myself. =P Diana 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Monita Linda says on Sep 10, 2008, 13:19: Mono, thats probably because that is how street guys clothes look (and no, they don't buy them like that). Poor but Preppy ______Colombia: the only risk is wanting to lay. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

E-Man says on Sep 10, 2008, 13:20: In the states you can buy very nice clothes cheap at Kohls (on sale), Mervyns and Macys (not at the regular price but when it's on sale (50% to 60% off) with additional 15% discount using Macys card).

dwmte7 says on Sep 11, 2008, 05:52: i think i was the first guy to wear pre-distressed jeans in colombia in the 80s. they had no idea that at fred segal's in hollywood or malibu, they cost me $180.00 and they thought that the rip/worn/patch was just gauche i cared? i wore what ever i bloody wanted. the belt on the jeans was woven sterling silver and cost about $350.00 they knew that? nah, but i did. and if i felt like it, i'd wear sandals also from fred segal or BH and not cheap. so, what to do? appease yourself, be comfortable, just don't offend folks. if clothes offend someone...it's the wrong person to be concerned about. dwmte 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Monita Linda says on Sep 11, 2008, 09:07: Oh and Colombians love Levi's Jeans. They are considered very fashion here. Poor but Preppy ______Colombia: the only risk is wanting to lay. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Mononoke28 says on Sep 11, 2008, 10:41: Oh yeah, they go nuts over those jeans but I think it's mainly because they're expensive down there. Here, not so much. They're just aight. Diana 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

dwmte7 says on Sep 11, 2008, 11:59: they used to assemble levis in the duty free zone in por venir out by the airport. the confectioners in colombia are the best in the world.. all the good stuff is made there...diesel, girbaud, guess and on and on. oh LORD, i forgot niggaz......how could i forget. dwmte 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

dwmte7 says on Sep 11, 2008, 12:00: mono...find out how much a pair of those cost...are you down there or up here? dwmte 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

El Polo says on Sep 11, 2008, 12:10: In Cartagena ive notice von dutch, diesel, armani exchange, hollister, all types of clothing being worn by tourist & some Colombians, (mostly upper class). For the most part, I have seen a bit of a fashion sense in Colombia, I have also seen some chimbo t-shirts being proudly worn. I guess what you wear should be an extension of yourself, who cares what other say, and just to take a page from Elmo's book, Hey POLO how the fok do you know so much about that thar fashion so much? simple; NEW YORK FOKIN CITY.

dwmte7 says on Sep 11, 2008, 12:17: really, polo....how many "average" colombians can spring $100-$200 bucks for a pair of jeans? not today. dwmte 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

kalder says on Sep 11, 2008, 12:19: Not many average Brits could either. "kalder- have you ever had a woman?"--Sam Salmon 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

El Polo says on Sep 11, 2008, 12:48: Most people cant afford $100-$200 jeans, my family included. I guess the mix up was on the "chimbo" comment. When I go to Colombia, yes I bring clothes for my family, and when I shop for them, they rather me buy in quantity rather than quality, thats why I gave out the oldnavy link above. Heres another link I thought of when I was going home last night.

Monita Linda says on Sep 11, 2008, 16:35: I think it is better to go for quality. Because here in Cali,w e don't really have seasons (hence no real fashion ins and outs) so people wear their clothes literally for years and years.. that's why I would go for quality... Poor but Preppy ______Colombia: the only risk is wanting to lay. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

ichitagochi says on Sep 12, 2008, 09:49: It does seem that the people cared about fashion more than quality, because I wore torn up clothes but I was wearing good brands.
