True, dogs can be a pain in the ... for your front lawn:

Some house owners in Barranquilla have found a solution: They put poisoned pellets on the lawns.
So far, 6 dogs and 2 cats have been poisoned in CRA 59B # 96 (50 cats/dogs are poisoned every month in Barranquilla and those are the ones we know about).
Stupid ar*seholes...

mcheasley says on Sep 18, 2009, 09:54: The dogs think that they are fertilizing the grass for the neighbors.... Suizo is also right..... With 44 acres in N.C. my dog never needed a leash or a poop scooper... But in Medellin the leash is necessary (between the crazy unfixed dogs and the crazy unfixed drivers) and those grocery store bags come in really handy for picking up after Cody.....

I finally got the message across to my neighbors that horn blowing after 10pm will result in an air horn blast in their car window... The neighbors passed the word quickly...

I've never seen any owners scooping in Barranquilla, have you in other cities? Better to have tried and failed than having regrets all your life about what you MIGHT have missed 1 funny, 0 helpful. |

Pappassito (☼Travelguide writer) says on Sep 18, 2009, 10:28: Yes, I've seen it a lot in Bogota.. but never in Medellin... for me, it's not about animal cruelty.. I have an 11 yo Golden Retriever.. it's about being a responsible pet owner, something many Colombians have yet to grasp, "A wise monkey never monkeys with another monkey's monkey." 1 funny, 0 helpful. |

SlyFrancis says on Sep 18, 2009, 11:28: Although poisoning your lawn is a little excessive but anyone who owns a house with a lawn knows that some people thinks it's okay to crap on your lawn and not pick it up. My guess is that the person who poisoned the lawn got tired of picking up someone else dogshit. It use to happen to my lawn also until I let my dog out. A pitbill always cures the problem. TravelFamily says on Sep 18, 2009, 12:43: True that there are a lot of dog owners (and walkers) that pick up the poop in Bogota, but why do they leave the bags along the sidewalk (usually next to a tree or just in the grass area) instead of actually throwing it away? The sidewalk in front of my house had bags of poop for days before somebody (garbage people?) picked it up. Topic of conversation for the kids whenever we walk the dog - "Who picks up those bags?" Poisoning? Terrible. I wouldn't let my dog off of a leash though. The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page. ~St. Augustine~ 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

lpdiver says on Sep 18, 2009, 16:16: I don't think it is nice to punish the dogs either. I just throw the shit over the fence into the neighbors yard. Their dog is the primary offender. In my area they animals are required to be vaccinated and registered and are not legally allowed to roam free. NOte: the neighbors dog is a primary offender. I have also deposited the shit at their front door. Remember what the monkey says, "Fuck money it's free" 1 funny, 0 helpful. |
