Hey everyone, I am about to finish my undergrad, and after teaching english for a year in Ecuador, I was thinking of going to Bogota to get a masters...can anyone recommend a good university there? How is the Javeriana? I want something along the lines of Latin American Studies for my Masters. I have been to Cali five times, but never Bogota, so I have no clue! Thanks!!

The NAcional i spretty good but I don´t knwo how safe would you feel in that environment, it is a public university and there is some guerrilla influence all around, that might be a little unconfortable.

I used to be an English teacher there, so I know it really well. I agree that Los Andes is definitely the best private uni, although really expensive. The Universidad Nacional de Colombia is the best public uni, and hailed by some as the best university in South America (Gabriel Garcia Marquez studied there). My husband did his degree there, so I know it really well, and it's not dangerous at all. Studying there would probably be a much richer life experience and a great way to learn about Colombia than los Andes, which could be a university anywhere really, even though it's lovely. It's true that there's the odd student demonstration at la Nacho, with students throwing stones at the police, and the odd burning bus, but it'sand it really depends on the kind of thing you'd like best and what type of person you are. The other thing about the Nacho is that they are very short on resources, although I guess that wouldn't matter so much for you as you're going to do an Arts subject. I can´t remember the other results clearly, perhaps thy´re on their webpage. The Externado is incredibly expensive. Stultórum númere infinitum est. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

I have Colombian friends here who have recommended Bogota but I'm having trouble finding anything on the internet. Poor but snappy 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
