Student Visa for UK, how much money should they need

so u have to present proof of funds to get a student visa for the UK, but how much do they say is needed? i know they dont say the exact amount, but how much (in your experience, for US or UK) does a student need to have in their account roughly?

Never mind that student visa pish. Just strap yourself underneath a truck headed for the UK and when you arrive, your ass will instantly be thrown into a fully furnished flat with cash handouts, golf lessons, the lot!

Student Visas I dont know the exact amount but I have had at least 8 Colombian students staying with me in the last few years in London, and I think it is more important to show that you have enough money coming in to pay rent and transport and food and course costs than to have a set amount in the bank, i.e. do a budget.
Generally they are allowed to work about 15 hours a week and can easily earn £100 a week if necessary as they are quite hardworking people, but the visa section dont like to see that income included in the budget, so basically you have to show you can survive without working though in fact you can work here to supplement your budget. Also I think they are much stricter on language students than people who are doing higher education qualifications. In fact this is not unreasonable, it is much cheaper to learn basic English in Colombia and then to polish it here, it is not sensible to come to the UK to learn English unless you already know some.
Another point to remember is that their overwhelming preoccupation is that people will disappear here and not return. A letter from an employer in Colombia to say you have a job when you return is very valuable.
