Strictly salsa

In the Colombian city of Cali - the world capital of salsa - the beat is infectious, but it pays to take lessons if you want to keep up with the locals

I work also as a salsa teacher at the best dancing school in Bogota. At least the school has the best reputation. But I dont teach Lambada or another dance as salsa.

Very Briddish article-the writer is so clueless he thinks people 'tap their toes' while dancing.

Buskwick, what I really need help with is my BREAK DANCING, and since you are caught up in the hip hop scene maybe you can give me some pointers on my head spins and popping. Im really serious and how much do you charge me for this?

" the foot-tappingly infectious music" did not read as a reference to the dancing techniques of Cali salseros to me.
I think she made a fairly accurate description of salsa Cali-style: "the Cali style is famous for its fast footwork, with plenty of spins and, for the Cali pros, a few Dirty Dancing-esque lifts too. "

FYI Cali salsa dancers have been bringing home ALL the international trophies for gods know how many years in row. Remember the movie "Salsa" somtime in the eighties? What was the opening son? Oscar DLeon? Salsa venezolana? Potorra? Neworican? Cuban?
NOsir!!!!
Cali pachanguera by Grupo Niche.
There's only one another band that comes close to being the very best next to Jairo Varela and the rest of the niches chocoanos y vallecaucanos and that Orquesta Guayacán!

That's not just an opinion, like yours. That's documented FACT. Barranquilla puerta de oro eat your heart out.

Oscar D'Leon sucks. Colombia has much, much bigger salsa talent, even Joe Arroyo is a class above.

Grupo Niche, Cali, Colombia.

But we were discussing who are the best salsa dancers, not from where the best salsa came from. Two very different animals, right?

Have Barranquilla or Puerto Rico dancers been bringing home ALL THE TROPHIES fro ALL THE INTERNATIONAL competitions over half a decade?
NOOOOOOOOO
CALEÑOS HAVE, because Cali has the best salsa schools of the WORLD,

I say, what an accurate, pinsharp picture of what Cali's actually like!

I'd recomend it to all gap year kids. They can get boozed up on aguardiente, wander about Juanchito after hours and have a jolly old time dancing the night away with the friendly locals.
