Strata

Would someone explain strata in detail. I understand strata 1 would be the poorest.
Is Strata 6 the highest. What would income be for strata 1 compared to strata 6?
Thanks

Just giving my 2 cents, gringoinbogota is correct except for the assertion that "the smaller the cheaper"; that is not necessarily true.

For more information on estratos visit the national statistics agency at:

For a city-by-city chart go to:

ESTRATO IF YOU WANNA LIVE IN A CITY LIKE BOGOTA AND YOUVE GOT SOME CASH YOU DEFINETELY GOTTA GO FOR ESTRATO 5 OR 6 LIKE ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS A MONTH IT DEPENDS IF YOURE RENTING OR YOU BOUGHT A PLACE AND IF ITS IN ANOTHER CITY LIKE MEDELLIN, CALI OR CARTAGENA IT STARTS TO GO DOWN MORE THAN WHAT YOUD THINK, GOOD LUCK
