Story about drugs & breast implants

Recently an article was printed in the washington Post and other papers regarding my neice and fiancee, who were caught leaving Colombia with drugs that were in their luggage.First of all,the erroneous information that was printed is untrue.Secondly,6 months after the fact the DEA is still investigating the case.My neice went to Colombia for high quality, inexpensive cosmetic surgery which I paid for.(breast implants) Both she and her fiancee were SET UP by a lifelong Colombian friend in the USA,who encouraged her to go there AND bring back a package for him.The package was suppose to be pesos, not heroin. For the posters on here who made crude, sarcastic remarks,I resent it deeply. This has been a nightmare for 2 families and a little child is without her parents. You cannot always believe what thet media prints and I have notified the apropriate parties.
So many unethical, lying, greedy Colombians have attempted to profit from their misery in this situation in many forms. We have been betrayed and taken to the depths of
hell.Everyone from friends to lawyers included. Are there any honest decent people left in that society?Anyhow, before you laugh and make snide remarks, just remember,it could happen to YOU TOO when you trust people. So if you go back to my posts on prisons, now you know why. When they return to the USA a documentary will be done on their story,by a Canadian filmaker.stay tuned!

Let me add another snide comment It is impossible to believe that your niece and fiancee were innocent victims.

It's ALMOST impossible to believe that you could be so naive as to think so.

Why is that so hard to believe? You grow up with a fella, that you trust, who appears to be trying to help you get the plastic surgery cheaply and makes all the arrangements in Spanish(which you do not know)He gets the tickets and the hotel. He contacts the doctor too.By the way,"my frined Jose will give you a package of money to bring back for me.There is only a certain amt of Colombian money that can be taken out"'.You get the package,do not open it and stick it in your luggage. The rest is history. You never were in another country before.
People always ask others to take a package or bring one back.I have heard many stories of this nature.Perhaps YOU are naive,ey?

Biggest rule when travelling on a plane (this and don´t say bom Never carry a package for someone else. They ask you this at the check in desk, very clearly to every customer.

Did you pack your own bags?
Are you carry anything for anyone else?

I took a package home for a Colombian friend once. I trust the person but still I went through the package thoroughly. then when checking my bags in I presented the package and said that it had been given to me by another person and that I had thoroughly searched it but there could be a 1% chance something is in it. They checked it again and said it was All clear.

Under no circumstances take a package for anyone and not search it your self and have authorities search it as well.

Im sorry this has happened to you and your family but don´t say that all Colombians are untrustworthy due to a few bad people.

That would be like me saying that all Americans are stupid because your niece did a stupid thing.

Your cruel comments are a perfect example of why I am becoming like this.Instead of helping me work thru it,you are acting like a lowlife mudda forker! You do not get it and never could.Life is one big joke for you.I hope something happens to you, when you least expect it and your friends(and others) take advantage of your suffering. What goes around comes around! You are a smug clueless jerk, that I would put on my s*** list with the rest of the mudda forkers! Your day is coming pal! Might not be today, but its coming...remember I said it!Nuff said!
Ah done!

No, I'm not naive. Dicusted... you're pulling our legs, right?

This guy does all these things, buys tickets, does research, hotel, etc. out of the goodness of his heart... all he wants is for your niece to carry a package to the US?

That doesn't make you suspicious?

They got the package and DIDN'T CHECK IT? And you believe they had no idea what was inside?

Only a certain amount of currency can be carried out of Colombia... that's true of every country I have visited. Tell me, what legitmate purpose did they think they were serving by carrying a freaking BLOCK of cash?

Whatever.

You ever hear the one about the lady who wakes up in the middle of the night, heads down to the kitchen, and catches her husband screwing the maid? He looks at her and says, "Honey, who are you going to believe - me, or your lying eyes?"

You want to be a fool, that's your business. But you're looking for sympathy in the wrong forum.

Im so sorry for you that this happened to people that you loved, but if you have been reading this site for a while you then you know what these guys are like they are blunt and harsh at times, I call them the "acid keyboard" guys.

Last year my husbands mother asked me to take an old doll back to Miami for his sister, I love them all but that "Bankok Hilton" movie with Nichole Kidman kept playing over and over in my head, so I ended up pulling the plastic dolls head off in the airport before I went through customs just to check that there was nothing inside it, I must have looked pretty funny, but I just could not take the risk.

It was all fine in the end, Mate I am so paranoid that I will go into the baños before I check my bags in and unpack and then repack it one more time just to make sure, i mean there is the maid and friends visiting the apartment or "hotel" in your nieces case and you just never know.

She was a bit clueless by not opening the package i know you say he was a trusted and life long friend ect ect and I hope she gets off and it doesnt stop her fromt travelling again if she gets the chance, the world is a wonderful place.

About your previous comment
"I cannot understand why the mindset does not change. No way, will I visit Colombia.I am too angry!"

You have this hatred for Colombia and you have never been there!!?? I suppose you receive all your information about Colombia from two relatives convicted of drug smuggling! WAKE UP!!!! Do you enjoy having the U.S. criticized by those that have NEVER visited the U.S.? I DON'T!!

I'm in law enforcement, (and my grandfather was Colombian) I've never dealt with a prisoner that was guilty, even when they were caught red handed! Here we have not one person but two that were caught together red handed and they are innocent?

Since you have NEVER been to Colombia, let me educate you; the airport is filled with "WARNING" signs about smuggling drugs and excepting packages. In Colombia and the U.S. before you board an airplane you are asked; DID YOU RECEIVE ANY PACKAGES FROM ANYONE" so, apparently they lied from the beginning.

SO!! If those two are so innocent and being mistreated by the Colombian government, what part of all the warnings and instructions did they not understand?

WAKE UP and blame the correct people, and place the blame where it belongs.

"discusted" just doesn't have a clue, and it's everyone elses fault. Talk about having blinders on!

I cannot make a believer out of the infidels.I am telling you it was
naivety and trusting. They never flew before or were out of the states.
This friend is a con man wheeler dealer who could charm Oasama Bin Laden.he found the right patsies to do his dirty work.He trusted them and they trusted them, afterall, they lived next door to each other since they were 10 years old and were very close. He reassured them.He was desperate for money.I have since found out that several years ago he was a mule and was caught on the US side, having swallowed condoms with cocaine. He was given community service! Cause he was a kid! we never knew that he was aheavy cocaine user either. What was found in their luggage was heroin and alot of it.I do not think its so hard to imagine putting all ones' trust and faith in a close friend. Some of these guys on here have never been down and out and are too smug.So he used my neice for his dirty work all in the name of riendship! Do not worry! His day is coming!

Midnight Express is exactly what happened to them in detention.Beaten over the head.No food/sleep/water.They did not massacre villiages! Kill anyone! They are not criminals! They are not terrorists! I find the majority of you insensitive and without compassion, except for Sydneygirl.I hope that some of you get into something where even though you did nothing, you are assumed to have done something or look suspicious. Then,YOUR own Midnight Express will happen.I will never go to Colombia and I will have no dealings with anyone from Colombia, until and unless a Colombian appears out of the clouds on a bolt of lightening and proves to me that he/she is an honest and sincere person. Most of you live la vida loca and have no idea what the grown up world is like.La Modelo is known as the worse prison in the western hemisphere and I can tell you things that would make you puke!Remember a movie and probably a tv show appearance will happen about this story and other stories.Keep fooling yourselves that Colombia is care free and nto dangerous.Keep fooling yourselves that
nothing bad can ever happen to you or yours.Live in that fantasy world as long as you want to.Look at you friends and neighbors, even relatives.Look into their eyes.Would any of them ever betray you?

Some of you just do not want to admit the shortcomings of your people and their suffering, cause you know what?In the end, alot of families have suffered there. The kidnap capital of the world.More murder than Iraq.If you have money,oy ulive better than most BUT the sharks will circle you for a bite.If you are poor, you just get cut down.I send things to the prison out of the goodness of my heart for the girls. They love American things.I am not selling them for money either.Speaking with prisoners form all over the world who can say what I tell you is ture. They are living the truth in there.Wether a political prisoner,a trafficker,or a terrorist.Everyone has a story to tell. Most would give an eye to leave Colombia period. So go ahead with your stupidity.Thiousand s of people and experiences can't all be wrong.Let a cop here give me a ticket.I would accept 100 tickets for the freedom I have in the USA.The Miranda Law says"You have the right to remain silent" Colombia has no such law and people have no rights. You just pay people to get off.

I feel sorry for your niece I would even go visit her next time Im in the city if she needs it. But please do not generalise about people in a country you know nothing about.

I think you´re trying to find someone to blame because you feel guilty about putting your niece in the position that she is in.
