Step by Step process to get a passport and visa to leave Colombia

Can one of you walk me throug hthe process of obtaining a passport and visa to leave Colombia? Do I go through the Colombian government or the U.S. government?

If you can take me through the process step by step, if it's not too much trouble. Also, is it hard to get the passport and visa?

If I marry a military man is it easier to get the passport and visa? Thanks a lot for your help.

Alicia Find out where the U.S. embassy is in Bogota...you will be spending a long time there...loooooooonnnnnnngggggg time to try to get a visa. Your passport is issued by the Colombian government, not the EEUU.

You don't need to marry and American to get a tourist/business/student/etc visa. Marrying an American serviceman will not get you a tourist visa, nor will it get you a fiance/spousal visa any faster although the the income requirement is lowered for servicemen. Just curious but are you willing to marry a U.S. military man just to get a visa? Hmm.

Do a search on this site for 'visa' and you'll find bastante information right away.

ACBlessing---good responses This board amazes me sometimes. The whole thing sounds suspicious.
"If I marry an American military man...." Most people marry out of love for the person, as opposed to love of the profession. (military man). In this case, I think it's neither. It's just she would love to leave Colombia for $$Gringolandia$$.

First apply for and get your Colombian Passport. Without that there is no hope. Second I would watch a much USA Television you can find, probably, based on what you posted, the closest you will come.

does anyone also agree that the majority of people in the world have some redeeming values and are capable of being loved?

I just mention this, because I always thought that many women in Colombia have the wisdom to know that most men are the same, and have good and bad traits. So if they arent total freaks, why NOT look for a better life with one of them?

The sad thing is, it seems apparent that there are many men that just go to play around. This isnt new, the same stuff was happening in Europe during the 1st world war and happens around the world daily. The girls just have to learn that every relationship has it's own dynamic and the serious ones will take the time to do it right.

Another reason I like the fiancee visa process and its processing times. You get a bit more time to get to know each other before taking the plunge.

GIB Tu embajada ha dado visas a narcotraficantes y guerrilleros, confiarías en ellos solo por tener la visa?jajaja

Response to your responses :-) To answer Alex question: No, I would never marry a military man (any man) just to get a visa. I am a devout Catholic woman and cherish and respect the sanctity of marriage. Doing something like that starts your marriage off on a bad foot and it is bound to fail.

I have a friend that asked me these question so I decided to post them here and ask you all.

Mr. Babillas? LOL LOL LOL No, I have hung out there though. Most of the American military men I met there were total creeps! LOL I wouldn't have married them if I was blind, starving, desperate, one step away from being deported and hadn't had a man in 10 years and they were willing to pay me mucho dinero!! LOL Does that answer your question? LOL Besides.....I like Marines and Delta Force Commandos....the real tough guys. ROTFLMAO Just kidding! LOL LOL

Gator: So she should apply for her Colombian visa then apply for a visa to get into the U.S.?

Thanks to all of you for your responses. i appreciate the direction.

First.... obtain a Colombian to PUT the visa in if and when it is granted.

Second. Begin the process at the US Embassy.

Third. Be prepared not to receive the visa.
