If I were to offer services, say over the phone or internet, from Colombia, but wanted it registered as a US business, can that be set up from here? - Colombia. Or would I have to wait until I'm in the US to do that? Just some ideas....

rmykita says on Dec 13, 2006, 07:02: I did it. I think we may have spoken before. Give me a call here in Bogota to discuss it. To be clear, I created a U.S. NGO and registered there first, here second. Not a for-profit business, which is a different process. If this is helpful, call me. 3128632112 or fijo 2210761

bufalo says on Dec 13, 2006, 09:11: I'll try to call sometime this week, but it would be a for-profit business. What I would want to do is have it be a US business, but register it from here, if that is even possible. I wouldn't be going there for a while. Miguel_Clavo says on Dec 13, 2006, 12:27: Companies are registered in the individual states, depending on your business location. Your business location determines which state. To register in CA, you need a verifiable California location. Both of my LLCs are registered in in CA, but i have the main office in CTG. With a CA location, you can mail in all application, etc. No appearance is necessary, just an EIN only for tax purposes. "I would rather die living life, than to live a dying life."........ Miguel_Clavo says on Dec 13, 2006, 12:30: PS: choose a state which does not have a state income tax... like Florida, Texas, Nevada, etc. CA taxes you to the bone. bufalo says on Dec 14, 2006, 05:13: EIN, (something) Identification Number? Hmm, having a location is going to be the tough one. The only place I could use would be NY. I'll check on it.
