Spirit Air?

My wife and son are moving to Ctg mid June.I will need to stay behind for 1 year.I will be visiting every 3 months so I wanted to know how horrible is Spirit Air.Do they lose luggage frequently, because there rate is still the cheapest out of Chicago?

My only problem with them was my own fault. Other than that, the flights that I have taken have been on time. Always got my luggage. But don't expect anything (food, drink) on the trip unless you are prepared to pay for it with a credit or debit card.

I used Spirit twice FLL to Bogota. Everything was good. Price was far better than I could get elswhere. I will use again.

I have flown Chicago to CTG roundtrip on spirit 4 times now. Zero problems, and I'm probably 2000 dollars ahead of using Avianca. It's actually even quicker, you leave Chi-town around 6 AM and you're in Cartagena at 12:30.
Long live the Spirit ORD/CTG route!

I have flown FLL/CTG on Spirit numerous times since they began the route last May and have no hesitation in flying them again.

One item to note---you're in Cartagena at 1:30 now that we are not on Daylight Savings Time. When we go back on DST, we'll be an hour ahead of Colombia and the 10:40 flight from FLL puts you in Cartagena at 12:30. One of the few instances where I like DST, as you feel like you arrived your destination ealier and have more time that first day.

I live in Cartagena and have used spirit for 4 round trips to FLL. 2 trips perfect. 2 bad. If flight is cancaled or mechanical problems they have no other flights to put you on. Next day maybe, maybe not. They bussed me to Baranquilla and put me on other airline. Sometimes is cheaper, sometimes is more than avianca when you add per bag charges and seating charge. I will go avianca at least they have other options to get you were your going.

Flew from Bogota > Ft Lauderdale > DC return no problems whatsoever. You -do- have to pay extra for any checked luggage. I think $15 per bag.
