I am sorry but I have to say that tildes are a basic/necessary thing to learn, although a bit difficult, it should be considered a part of basic or at least Intermediate Spanish. It's like saying accents are not necessary to learn in basic or int. French...

Mokorisan says on Jun 17, 2009, 11:01:

Well, when your main focuss is to understand Spanish, at least the basic, every day, how to use the verbs and conjugations and all of that, Tildes become an unnecessary hassle. I am not saying that they are not important. and that I don't teach them, just that for the CRASH COURSE, they are not a focus.

besides, accents in spanish are not directly linked to the tildes. some times you have them, some times you don't. The tildes go according to some very defined rules that can be learned later on.

mranderson says on Jun 17, 2009, 11:35:

You should at least learn pronunciation of the accent marks. It may sound dumb but when I look up a word in a dictionary and even if I see the accent mark I still pronounce wrong. I have so much trouble with putting the stress in the right place and it makes a big difference in pronunciation.

I hate to rain on your parade, but please learn how to spell beginner first.

Mokorisan says on Jun 17, 2009, 11:39:

well, accents and pronounciation are a fundamental part of learning the language. Off course I teach that.

The idea is, for a Fast course, there are certain rules that you can Jump to learn the language, and that is why I say Basic or Intermediate, To learn ALL of the grammar rules and irregularities, well that takes an advanced course that does not last 2 months.

Wow, you really do not have a good grasp of the English language. You do not "make" questions, you "ask" questions about the service. I will just leave it at that.

xkss2002 says on Jun 17, 2009, 18:02:

Hey Philly,
You kill me!! Take a look at this thread you started recently: http://poorbuthappy.com/colombia/post/bucaramanga5/

"Now, I am looking for people who have lived there or is living there to tell me what they like or don´t like."
"Thanks in advance for your imput."

Exactly how much imput is you looking for from people who has lived there???
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How about this comment of yours a little further down in the same thread:
"My wife went to College there and just loves it. I just do not want to take her word from it."

I wouldn't want to take anyone's word from it, either.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This one is fun as well:
"If I decide to make the move, I will be buyibg a house and will be there for awhile. Thanks"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Great sentence structure here:
" I am currently working legal in Colombia, visa, paying medical, and pension."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These two sentences of yours from another thread you started are delightful:
"Also, for the people who has never used this kind of service, what would you look for in a woman, age, professional, kids, no kids, and what type of services would interest you. I bet someone and I am just really courious to see if I am wrong."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Also, perpespective clients, men and women would have to go through a serious screening process."
What exactly is a perpesective? Is this what they call a perp who steals perspex?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"NC bachelor, thanks for the comments. yes, I want to win a bet but I am also want to know about the process."
I am want to steal women's underwear, but generally restrain myself.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These are just a few examples of your most recent postings here, Philly, and I can state for the record that your spelling and usage of the English language is abhorrent!!! And you claim to have a brilliant educational background. I truly hope that it was a degree from Strayer College, and not from a place of higher learning with greater standards. What was the thing you told me a few months back after I corrected you, when you began bad mouthing Beckloud? Just to refresh your memory, and so that we might take further delight in the results of education in the USA, here is the quote:

"The wrong job, your job is not for me? I probably have more education then all of your teachers put together. I was only looking for a response when I sent my resume and I did not receive anything. You are right, I guess working with you is not for me. I was looking for something more professional. "

To which I responded:
" Let's pretend that I am one of your many professors, Philly. Would you really want to submit to me a sentence like this one?
"I probably have more education then all of your teachers put together."
Please make corrections as necessary, and advise the person responsible for paying for so much education that it was a very bad investment. Thank you."

You didn't appreciate that someone would correct you, and answered me thusly:
" xkss2002, do you know me? It is considered rude to talk when no one is talking to you."

And here you are now, not following your own doctrine and pointing out the faults of others. Absolutely BRILLIANT!!! A man without a good working knowlege of the English language has no place pointing out the failures of others. You make yourself look extremely foolish. Please carry on, though, as I look forward to reading more demonstrations of your wisdom here on these pages.

Philly- Your mistakes go well beyond average typos. How can you be so critical of others when you write so poorly yourself? Let´s see some proof of this high education that you claim to have. After all you are an english teacher, aren´t you?

xkss2002 says on Jun 18, 2009, 10:11:

Philly, I can assure you that finding people who would want a position on your D*CK would be very difficult. But let's see this brilliant English teacher at work. Point out to me the mistakes I have made, and I promise to begin looking immediately for someone who would agree to mount the one organ used even less than your brain.

Mokorisan says on Jun 18, 2009, 13:59:

So according to your comment, You don't have a native level on english? since you can't make complete sentences on your own?

Anyway, I apreciate your concern about my PROPER English, and my PROPER spanish.

I can assure you that my teaching level is PROPER and a mistake here or there (that EVERYONE has made in this topic) does not create a CREDIBILITY issue.

And since the purpose of the thread got a little bit lost:

GY,
Actually, whether or not YOU can form complete sentences makes absolutely no difference to anyone here. But you are NOT the one who was correcting the original poster, and neither are you the one offering up corrections, when your own abilities in that department are somewhat lacking. See the difference? Besides that, Philly is, INDEED, getting paid as a teacher, and as I recall is working in that capacity somewhere in Norte Santander. Possibly Cucuta?

By the way, I am sure it was just a harmless oversight, but you probably meant to write "credibility". What good fortune that neither you nor I need to rely on teaching in order to survive.

Okay, my point is you can not start a post with "begginers" and expect to get any custumers or any kind of respect. In addition, you make the same mistakes that my latino students, " make a question". There is no such thing as "almost native", either you are or you aren´t. I have never stated that I am a great writer, nor do I pretend to be, I express with myself quite well with my mouth and get paid quite well for it, the results speak for themselves. I have won awards for the outstanding levels of my students. My students continue to have the highest ICFES scores in Colombia. Most people from the states do not know how to write or speak English correctly, so get off of my back. How many coaches are there that never played sports professionally but are the best coaches? All I know is I am an outstanding English teacher. So please, do not pretend to be something that you are not. "a native English speaker"

Now, I am looking for people who have lived there or is living there to tell me what they like or don´t like."
"Thanks in advance for your imput."

Exactly how much imput is you looking for from people who has lived there???
I made a typo, the "n" is next to the "m", however, you tried to correct me by saying"is you looking for from" come on, everyone knows you can not use "is" with the word you.

How about this comment of yours a little further down in the same thread:
"My wife went to College there and just loves it. I just do not want to take her word from it."
Obviously you missed the class about idiomatic expressions,.

This one is fun as well:
"If I decide to make the move, I will be buyibg a house and will be there for awhile. Thanks"
again typo, the "b" is next to the "n".

Great sentence structure here:
" I am currently working legal in Colombia, visa, paying medical, and pension."
Not a thing wrong with this sentence, against it is above your native speaker level.
the sentence structure is called "present cont., if you did not know.

These two sentences of yours from another thread you started are delightful:
"Also, for the people who has never used this kind of service, what would you look for in a woman, age, professional, kids, no kids, and what type of services would interest you. I bet someone and I am just really courious to see if I am wrong."

again, I guess it is just above your head for you to comprehend, nothing wrong with this sentence.

I think I have made my point, typo is a typo, but when you do not have a grasp of the English and can not understand expressions, you do not have the right to call yourself " native speaker level". maybe in a couple of years, but at this moment, "HELL NO"

So, I think you should cut out the native speaker level, you give us a really bad rep.

All I know is I am an outstanding English teacher. So please, do not pretend to be something that you are not. "a native English speaker"

Not only the writen English in this paragraph is wrong, also the logic of it. jeje,
- Cusutmers or Customers?
- Okay, my point is you can not start a post with "begginers" and expect to get any custumers or any kind of respect. (followed by)
- Most people from the states do not know how to write or speak English correctly, so get off of my back.
(What would be your "RESPECT" level?)
- I express with myself quite well with my mouth and get paid quite well for it... When you talk to yourself?

And, you are judging me for misspelling 1 word, when you have done the same thing with more than 1 word, cases that are far beyond typos.
Also you are asking us not to judge your english teaching skills because of these typos, that when you speak it's very diferent, but yet you have never heard me speaking English nor Spanish and qualify me as some sort of hack.

"My wife went to College there and just loves it. I just do not want to take her word from it."
Obviously YOU missed the class about idiomatic expressions. to take someone's word FOR it

Plus, you make the same mistake twice and can't even recognize it, and fail to see the irony in the correction.

-Now, I am looking for people who have lived there or is living there to tell me what they like or don´t like.
-Also, for the people who has never used this kind of service

-I made a typo, the "n" is next to the "m", however, you tried to correct me by saying"is you looking for from" come on, everyone knows you can not use "is" with the word you.

For your information, People, Eventhough it doesn't have an S at the end of it, is a plural noun. so saying "people has" is incorrect.

this was just "icing on the cake"

again, I guess it is just above your head for you to comprehend, nothing wrong with this sentence.

- I am currently working legal in Colombia, visa, paying medical, and pension."
Not a thing wrong with this sentence, against it is above your native speaker level.
the sentence structure is called "present cont., if you did not know.

So then, the real question here is, Are you currently visa?

and what was this? "against it is above your native speaker level".

*I think I have made my point, typo is a typo, but when you do not have a grasp of the English and can not understand expressions, you do not have the right to call yourself " native speaker level". maybe in a couple of years, but at this moment, "HELL NO"*

What you are or are not would be a NATIVE SPEAKER, but you can have a native speaker LEVEL.

I mainly speak spanish, I am a native of a spanish speaking country, and consider to have a NATIVE SPEAKER level in English, I can speak with any Native of any English speaking Country with no problem, plus, I spent my childhood in the US. Not only that, I can teach both languages.

I hope you get the concept.

And if you don't... well, I can give you some lessons.

...
So, I think you should cut out the native speaker level, you give us a really bad rep.

Mokorisan writes much better in english. I would choose mokorisan as an english teacher anyday over philly. I wouldn´t be surprised if mokorisan spoke better than philly. People with poor verbal skills tend to write badly too.

I hope philly only practices conversation and does not teach his students or even attempt to correct english writting.
