some info I found something here myself :

http://www.humanas.unal.edu.co/lenguas/extension.htm#5

Not much but it states under "Cursos para adultos"

Español para Extranjeros (bimestral 4:00 a 6:00 P.M.) 5 niveles

I guess bimestral means that they don't have any short intensive course, but only courses over two semester

Anyone with some more infos?

Hej Bjorn

Hummm well the courses at La Nacional at pretty good and actually they offer you the chance to meet really interesting people. The "bimestral" courses are just ok but the pace of learning is very slow and the books pretty old-fashioned. In the summer they offer intensive for something like 2 months I think and you're learning maybe 5 hours a day I think, it's really cool.

If you want to find information you have to contact the International Students Office (yeah I know... it's a bit odd... for there aren't many but they still keep one under the Public Relations department), if you can't find their e-mail in the website let me know and I'll find it for you, I know some lady who still works there. I did have my UNAL times once upon a time.... Classical philology with professor Olaya... hummm... nice memories.

Another thing, you can try other places too... but yeah the pricing of the courses at the UNAL is very advantageous. They also organize interesting activities. There're also other places though, you can ask around, if not I can tell you too....

Unfortunately several of those programs have been discontinued because there were just no people to fill them in, and it's a pity when you come to think about it. Still there's plenty of fish in the sea... so it can only get better.

I'm writing you from Bucaramanga a city between Bogotá and Cartagena; Bucaramanga is 35 minutes from Bogotá by plane and 9 hours by car. I am an English teacher at Centro Colombo Americano a renowned institution in Colombia. I offer you a very cheap plan to learn Spanish during the time you desire; it could be one, two, three weeks or more.

These are the values in Colombian pesos (the official rate change is about 1USD = 2600 Colombian pesos (COP) but at the exchange banks you will be given about 2400/USD):

1 week 2weeks 3weeks
Lodging (with a family) 130000 195000 260000
Spanish course (25 hours per week) 275000 550000 825000
3 meals 105000 210000 315000
Other expenses (transport)* 25000 50000 75000
Total 535000 1005000 1475000

* Transport in the city is going to be paid by you. Local bus fare is $750

The lessons are one to one and are going to be given to you by young people who have a very good English knowledge and even some of them are students finishing their careers in education.

Near Bucaramanga there are interesting places for practice of X-treme sports (e.g. rafting, paragliding, etc) or you could during weekends visit beautiful colonial towns.

This week there is a person from Dallas, TX studying Spanish here. For further questions do not hesitate to contact me at franklealt at yahoo.com.ar

275000 for 25 hours of one to one teaching is a completely acceptable price. However, I am interested to go to Universidad National not primary because of the language courses, but more because I am interested in the enviroment in this main public university of Colombia. I have taken courses(not spanish course) at Universidad de Antioquia in Medellin, another public uni, and I find these big public unis very interesting mostly for political and social reasons. Far more interesting these places than most private universities in Colombia
