South Bogotá by the airport is Fontibon, it is not a bad area but it is not as nice. I don´t believe you will had big chances to get mugged there. You might be looking at Modelia or near Corferias.

Have you noticed how brutal the traffic is getting in Bogotá? Had to pick up and take my daughter to El Dorado from the north end from around 7th and 75th, and also took her to lunch at the Club Militar at Cr. 50 No. 13 - 50. Bumper to bumper and I mean bumper to bumper..

However, Mrs. Gator has eyes in the back of her head and a wicked right cross. BTW, the new way to beat Pico is two have two cars each with the last plate number to match the day. A neighbor does that so he can drive downtown every day by switching cars. The TM is a zoo especially during rush hours.

Generally, the times I have been in Bogota were because I was either going to, or coming from Villavicencio. And, the drive from Bogota to Villavicencio takes 2.5 hours or so. At least 45 minutes of that is getting the hell out of Bogota. Terrible.

Bama -- I live in Salitre when I travel to Bogota and agree with Gringo -- easy to get back and forth to the airport, a lot of nice restaurants within walking distance, Salitre Plaza is very nice and the area is safe.
