I just read that Copa airlines bought Brazilian planes to travel from panama to Barrranquilla. If they think I’m gonna fly on plane made in Brazil, they gotta be crazy, for that matter why not have the damn plane made in Colombia, is the same s—t. For complete peace of mind I want my black ass in a good ol American, English or French made plane. I like Brazil and all that, but as far as them or any south american country making planes, I just don’t know about that.

Mr. Hollywood says on Dec 16, 2005, 09:44: You've already done it. Brazil makes great planes. Embraer pretty much owns the small commuter plane market.

Albatross says on Dec 16, 2005, 09:50: Embraer Yes, they are a good company... located in Sao Jose just about midway between Rio and Sao Paulo. Between them and Bombardier in Canada, they pretty much have the commuter plane market wrapped up. I actually sent them my resume a couple of years ago, but they were only looking to hire people at their Miami office. They are just about the highlight of Brazilian technology. “Democracy - a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance." - H.L. Mencken |

Mr. Hollywood says on Dec 16, 2005, 13:57: Keyword Copa Doesn't matter what kind of plane it is if it's maintained by Copa, get drunk and pack your own chute. Though now that I think about it, wasn't it Avianca whose jet just ran out of fuel and crashed in Long Island a decade or so back?

elmodefoque says on Dec 19, 2005, 04:47: I love shoes made in Brazil, I also like their booze just as much as I love Colombian made clothing, candy, butifarras etc. but I’m still not convince that my precious black ass is safer in one of their (Brazil) planes than American made. When Colombians wanted to buy Spanish weapons and planes, my first reaction, are they freaking nuts? FARC aint got no Spanish weapons, those crazy modefoques got AK-47 which makes them much better armed and this thing about buying Spanish war planes, that’s ludicrous, I bet you could knock them down with a freaking cocoanut. over 5 million colombianos in USA and only 27 barranquilleros, i'm one.Curramba, el mejor vividero del mundo! |

elmodefoque says on Dec 19, 2005, 06:53: Albatross, I knew there was a logical explanation for this; I just know that Brazilian or anyone else in South America for that matter CAN NOT possibly be smarter than Colombians. Listen , I’ve been bad mouthing Colombians for quite a while and even infuriated most Colombian women, but I will give them credit when is due and I think the Colombian elite are by far the most cultured and educated in all south America, are they selfish, racist, clasista modefoques? yessss. Another thing I give Colombians credit for is their pilots, that’s why the idea of boarding a Brazilian made plane with Panamanian pilots gives me a bad case of cagadera (the runs). In all my many trips to Colombia I’ve only flown with Avianca, there’s nothing more assuring than to see those serious, tight lip little cachaco modefoques in their captain uniform heading toward the Avianca plane, in my humble opinion the best pilots in the business, they all got nerves like Pablo Montoya. Hey, when flying within the United States I feel quite safe with a 50 something gringo, ex-Vietnam F -14 pilots staggering toward the cockpit, and it don’t matter how drunk that modefoque is, he just knows how to fly that damn thing, is in his 47% alcohol blood. over 5 million colombianos in USA and only 27 barranquilleros, i'm one.Curramba, el mejor vividero del mundo! |

ColombianoNY says on Dec 19, 2005, 18:22: Embraer is safe! Embraer is a safe airplane, kind of small...but its a gentle ride on a clear, perfect day. NOW.......on a day with thunderstorms and rain, expect a lot of turbulence and sudden drops.
