Some recent Avianca announcements

First of all, THIS JUST CAME IN TODAY:

Not sure what the "stipulations" are as I already accidentally deleted the email (have a trip to Spain this month and Brazil next so I'm all booked out); sorry. . . :(

But maybe some PBHers might be able to team up and take advantage of this deal. . .

Also Avianca is adding some new flights with these Airbus planes coming in. . .

Call me crazy but I like the idea of a red eye. I know it's not good for families but it's great for me. I can sleep 3-4 hours on the plane and take the 1st or 2nd connecting flight from BOG to Cali, Medellin, Cartagena, wherever. . . That's awesome!! My vacation days are limited, so I've always hated using up 1 or 2 vacation days just to get to and back from my destination. So flying at night really works for me.

Plus it's on an Airbus A319, those don't hold more than 130 people. No other intl. flights coming in to BOG at 5:30 AM, lol. . . compare that to 8:00-9:00 PM, the peak hour for many flights from the U.S. to BOG, where customs and immigration can get crazy. So even if C&I is a little sleepy at that hour, with not so many people, it should still be pretty good! :)

With airline travel getting so stressful, I wonder why there aren't more red-eyes. I guess most travelers still prefer to fly during the day and most airline employees would probably want to avoid the graveyard shift. Also, I guess most neighborhoods don't want planes buzzing over them at 1:00 AM. Still, with the skies so crowded during the day, I think more red eyes are a reality sooner or later. . .

OK, op-ed over.
Now, final bit of news. . . from Wash. D.C. -

Interesting they emphasize the connections to Lima, Quito, and Guayaquil.

I know there are quite a number of Salvadorans and Peruvians in the D.C. area but not so sure about Ecuadorians. I don't think D.C. area is up there with Miami, Queens, and certain parts of Jersey with regards to # of Colombians, but would be interested to learn more about the demographics for these various groups around the capital.

Let me add that these new Airbus planes should come equipped with PTVs, like JetBlue.

Really looking forward to flying that red-eye to BOG sometime this year. . .

Thanks dr.

Aires has a promotion valid until tomorrow for internal flights this month. If you buy a round trip, you pay normal price for the ida part, and the regreso is 1,000 pesos.
